Ron was born to Bill and Edith Barnes in Empress, Alberta, February 7th, 1948. He took his schooling in Bindloss and helped his father on the family farm. Bill’s poor health meant that Ron shouldered much of the responsibilities of the farm at a young age. Ron married Joyce Marshall of Acadia Valley in 1967 in Medicine Hat. Bruce W. Billsborough of Vulcan, passed away suddenly at home on March 2, 2024 at the age of 71 years.
Bruce was born April 6, 1952 at Victoria, B.C., son of Robert and Leone Billsborough. He was raised and educated In Victoria and at a young age, moved to Calgary, AB. While here, he became a Journeyman Boilermaker for Local 146 out of Edmonton. After living in Edmonton for a short while, he moved back to Calgary.

Nora Eileen Simmons 1927 – 2024
Nora passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Heath Care Centre at the age of 96 years, with her family at her side.
Nora was born in Rimbey, Alberta to Lyle & Zerola Visger. She married the love of her life, Harvey Simmons, in 1950, and together they raised four girls.
Being active in her community, Nora was involved with the Ambulance Service, homecare, lifeline, Girl Guides and a founding member of the Vulcan Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Throughout her life, Nora was a devoted member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
She enjoyed traveling with Harvey. They traveled to places
DUGDALE, Leslie ‘Les’ Ralph 1954 – 2024
Leslie “Les” Ralph Dugdale was born April 5, 1954 in Vulcan, AB to Erwin and Dorothea Dugdale. He grew up on the family at Langdon, AB, where he began farming with his father and brothers. Les completed high schooling in Chestemere; it is where he met his future wife and life partner Lois Potter from Dalemead.
After graduating school Les worked at Spray Lake Sawmills, Les even drove taxi and worked at a gas station while he lived in Calgary.
He and Lois married in May 1975. Les and his family expanded the family farm to Vulcan, AB.

BERGEN, Shirley Patricia 1940 – 2024
Shirley Bergen, of Vulcan, beloved wife of Harvey, passed away at Vulcan Extendicare on January 28, 2024 at the age of 83 years.
Shirley Patricia Halford – a blue eyed (short sighted without her glasses) slip of a girl came through the door of the kitchen at a party Harvey attended in May of 1963. He was immediately captivated by the blue eyes and the smile. 5 ½ months later, they were man and wife.

Georgina Ully of Milo, AB, passed away suddenly on January 5 2024, just days before her 71st birthday. She passed away at home with family.
Georgina was predeceased by her husband Ed Ully and her sister Pamela Bates Ostergard. She is survived by her sister Cynthia McNeil (husband Gord and daughter Georgia), as well as Jeff Ully.
Her early years were spent in B.C. but the majority of her life was spent in Alberta. Georgina was successful in her career in business but found joy in being with her husband Ed on the farm. Together they settled in Milo after the farming

Grace Williams of Strathmore, formerly of Arrowwood, passed away at Sagewood AgeCare in Strathmore on January 24, 2024 at the age of 101 years.

Shirley Doreen Ertmoed (nee Mix) of Turner Valley, AB, passed away January 20th, 2024, at the age of 92 years after a courageous battle with cancer.
Shirley was born August 1, 1931 in Vulcan, AB, the youngest child to Karl Gustav Martin and Nettie Austina Mix. Shirley later moved to an acreage outside of Vulcan with her husband Harry until 1993 when Harry passed away. She then moved to Turner Valley, AB to be closer to family.

Allan Douglas Sim was born in Vulcan, Alberta on April 29, 1927, only child of David B. Sim and Kathryn Sim (Mills). He resided with his parents on the farm in the Berrywater district and learned how to farm alongside his father. He attended school at Berrywater for nine years until the school was closed and then finished his schooling in Vulcan. While he was young he became an avid reader.
