Robert “Bob” Schibbelhute of Vulcan, AB (formerly of Carmangay), passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Extendicare on April 11, 2017 at the age of 82 years.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Marion, daughter Wendy and son Neil. He was predeceased by his parents David and Florence Schibbelhute. Bob’s greatest passions in life were his faith, family, farming, tractors, tanks, rebuilding classic vehicles and telling stories. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Jean Thomson of Milo, Alberta passed away at the Vulcan Health Centre on March 24, 2017 at the age of 89.

Jean was born in Milo February 11, 1928 to Joe and Mary Thomson. After completing her school education at Milo and Cluny, she chose nursing as her career, trained at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton and achieved her RN in 1951. Her early years as a nurse took her to Winnipeg and Banff, but most of her working life was devoted to British Columbia Public Health. Randy was born on August 28, 1957 in Calgary, Alberta to Ivor and Eleanor Oberholtzer. Randy moved with his family from Arrowwood to Banff in 1968 where he attended school. Rhodes, Walter Samuel formerly of Champion, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Vulcan Community Health Centre, on March 5, 2017 at the age of 94 years. He was born on March 7, 1922 on the family homestead east of Champion, to George and Jennie Rhodes.

Walter grew up on the farm helping his dad and brothers with the hard work that comes with farming. He also helped his dad in the mine. Darrell Fath of Lake MacGregor County Estates, passed away after a long battle with cancer at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on March 1st, 2017 at the age of 57 years.

Darrell was born on August 20th, 1959 to Phillip and Catherine (Kaye) Fath. He met his wife Sherri Morrison and they had two sons; Carey and Daniel Fath, and were married for 33 years. Knive, Ruby Alberta, of Vulcan, passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Extendicare on February 23, 2017 at the age of 98 years.

Ruby was born on September 9, 1918 on the family farm at Kirkcaldy, to Michael and Dorthea Sullivan. Andy and Ruby married in Vulcan in 1942 and in the same year, they rented the Stager farm in the Red Cross district where they lived for the next eight years. They purchased the Henry McBride place in the Union Jack area in 1948. After years of farming and raising their three children, Andy and Ruby retired and moved to Vulcan in 1976.

Anderson, Wayne, of Vulcan, beloved husband of Gerrie, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Vulcan Community Health Centre, on February 19, 2017 at the age of 78 years.

Wayne was born on October 25, 1938 in Lethbridge to Bill and Annie Anderson. He attended Barrhill and Turin School before moving to Champion in 1952, where he finished his schooling. Wayne farmed with his dad and on August 15, 1963, he married Gerrie Blackford and they settled in the Champion/Vulcan area. Fisher, Margaret Kathleen of Nanton, peacefully passed away at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre in Claresholm on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the age of 97 years.

Margaret spent many years with Keith on the farm in the Vulcan area. She enjoyed traveling to Mexico and Hawaii as well as spending time at their home on the Kootenay Lake. She will be sadly missed by many.
