WOLFE, John Mitchell – 1926-2010

Wolfe, John Mitchell April 11, 1926 – February 26, 2010
It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of John Wolfe of Vulcan, Alberta at the age of 83 years.

Johnnie always believed that there was one more miracle out there that he could claim and we marveled at how he fought his cancer with determination. He courageously passed away with all the dignity he was known for.

He is survived by his best friend and the love of his life for the past sixty-one years Shirley. He loved his family dearly, daughter Jan Laree, Dane, McKenzie, Chandler Pedersen, two sons Randy (Rachel), Tyler, Karlyn and Ryan (Stacey), Landon, Raegan, Kalen, a sister Maureen, numerous nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by a daughter Deborah Woods, twin sons David and Donald and a brother Wendell.

John’s passion was curling and was recognized for his contribution as a builder of the sport. He served as President of the Southern Alberta Curling Association (S.A.C.A), he won the Canadian Senior Mens National Championship and two Legion Mens National Championships. He also had a love for tennis and golf. John had an inquisitive mind, loved to explore and to travel the world. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and colleagues. We love you John, always and forever.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Vulcan United Church 210-2 Ave. S. Tuesday March 2, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Sue MacDonald D.M. and Rev. Gordon Cranch officiating.

If friends so desire tributes in John’s memory may be made to Vulcan Community Health Centre Palliative Care Unit Box 299, Vulcan T0L 2B0.

Dear Shirley and family – John was well known and admired far beyond the Town of Vulcan! People here at Lomond appreciated his friendliness, and his dedication to his family, to the community, and to his business. He will be missed and remembered by many. Sincerely – Marvin Maronda

Shirley, Randy, Ryan, J.L. & families,

Over the years, Fred & I have had the pleasure of getting to know your family and it truly was a pleasure. John (Mr. Wolfe to us) must have been an inspiration to all of you. We did not know your Dad well, but saw his workings through all you children. A lovely family. We know you will miss him terribly and our thought and prayers are with you.

Dear Shirley, The curling fraternity will certainly be mourning the loss of John. A great curler, a true gentleman and lover of the sport. How he would have loved to have seen Kevin win his gold medal at last. I consider myself indeed fortunate to have known and worked with him at SACA. My condolences to you and all your family.

    Dear Shirley.
One of the highlights of working at SACA was to have the opportunity to meet people as wonderful as John. I looked forward to seeing him at our meetings. He was truly an amazing person. My condolences to you and all your family members.

Dear Shirley, Randy and Rachel and families. It was a pleasure to have known Johnnie. The store won’t seem the same without him. Having just lost my own father I can truthfully say it doesn’t matter how old they are it is still difficult, as they leave us with so many memories that bring tears to our eyes. Our deepest sympathy, a kind and gentle man will be missed.
