Carl John Steiner, beloved husband of Marcella of Nanton, passed away August 29, 2008 at Vulcan Extendicare at the age of 83 years.
Carl lived on the family farm, which celebrated its Centennial in 2002 and was active in the Vulcan Community until his retirement to Nanton in 1990. He was a member of the Vulcan Lions Club, Oddfellows and Community Band and was a Life Member of the Vulcan Golf Club. Some of his other interests included woodworking, gardening, golfing and dancing. He enjoyed his friends both at home and in Yuma where he and Marcella spent the winters. He was a very loving person and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Carl is survived by his wife of 62 years Marcella, two daughters Laurie (Norman) Wright of Nanton, Judy (Maurice) McKinney of Leduc, daughter-in-law Jean Ann Steiner of Vulcan, seven grandchildren Cynthia and Shawna Wright, Karl (Jennifer) and Kurtis Steiner, Jordan, Harley (Kaylene) and Lindsey McKinney, three great grandchildren Tesla and Anna Steiner and Brooke McKinney, brother Jerry (Ethel) Steiner of High River and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carl was predeceased by his parents Charlie and Margaret Steiner, two sons Charles and Randy, two sisters Faye McNiven and Allegra Gorman.
Memorial service was held Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 2:30 pm at the Nanton-Parkland United Church with Sue MacDonald DM and Reverend Shin co-officiating.
