GRAHAM, Lyall  1921 – 2009

Lyall was born May 20, 1921 in Vulcan, Alberta to Fred and Annie Graham. He passed away peacefully in the Rockyview General Hospital, Calgary January 28, 2009 in his 87th year.
Lyall received all his schooling in Vulcan and farmed with his brothers until he moved to his own farm, where he continued to farm until his passing.  He married Jean Connolly in 1994 and acquired seven step-children and numerous grandchildren. Born in Scotland, Bill came to Canada in 1948 where he worked as a plumber and gas fitter in Banff. Vulcan became his home in 1980 working for the County of Vulcan, Maintenance Department, until his retirement in 1988.
Bill met his surviving wife Judy Coburn in 1979, purchased a home and because of the love of his first West Highland Terrier, Jamie, they opened the Drybrig Kennel, which became one of the best Westie Kennels in Canada, and won many ribbons.  The Drybrig Kennel became crowded in town, so it was relocated to an

Melody Anne Banks formerly of Calgary, passed away at Vulcan Community Health Centre January 19, 2009 at the age of 57 years.
Beloved wife of William “Bill” Banks of Vulcan, Melody is also survived by two daughters and two sons, brothers,  sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as Bill’s children.
Melody was born July 6, 1951 at Edmonton, Alberta.  After finishing her schooling she moved to Calgary and began working at Alcan Aluminum. Melody met William and they moved to Vulcan where they married October 2003. She has continued to reside in Vulcan until her passing.

Osborne, Eileen Catherine, beloved wife of Allan “Ossie” Osborne (Ossie’s Renovations), passed away January 8, 2009 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 67 years. Being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by her family
Eileen is survived by her husband Ossie, a daughter Toni (Keith) Grills, two sons Albert (Tammy) Pfeuti, Michael (Lucia) Pfeuti, five grandchildren Elaina (Robert) Gardipie, Nicole Grills, Albert Jr. Pfeuti, Chris Pfeuti, Brittney Pfeuti, brother Moirris (Alice) Catley and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barr, Stella Louise passed away peacefully January 6, 2009 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 94 years.

Quick, Odelia “Tillie” passed away January 5, 2009 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 86 years.

Volesky, Marvin Earle passed away peacefully  December 24, 2008 at Brooks Auxiliary Hospital the age of 83 years.
Marvin was born December 31, 1924 to Anton (Don) & Alice Volesky on the family farm east of Lomond. He attended school at Midway (just east of his farm) and after it closed in 1939, he along with his brother Verne attended school in Lomond.  Marvin served in the Royal Canadian Artillery from March 1944 until August 1946 and was stationed in Halifax. After being discharged, he bought the T.J. Armstrong farm where his brother Verne and his family lived for sixteen  years.
