Lyall was born May 20, 1921 in Vulcan, Alberta to Fred and Annie Graham. He passed away peacefully in the Rockyview General Hospital, Calgary January 28, 2009 in his 87th year.
Lyall received all his schooling in Vulcan and farmed with his brothers until he moved to his own farm, where he continued to farm until his passing. He married Jean Connolly in 1994 and acquired seven step-children and numerous grandchildren. Lyall was affectionately known as “Pops” to all. Jean and Lyall made frequent trips to visit children and grandchildren. He loved to camp and travel, making trips to Ontario, Mexico, Hawaii and the warmer states of the United States. Lyall was a life-long faithful member of the Vulcan Church of Christ.
Lyall was predeceased by his wife Jean in 2003, a brother Hilton in 1938, his mother Annie in 1968 and his father Fred in 1966.
Lyall is survived by two brothers Weldon and Delbert (Isobel), step children Jim (Jean) Connolly, Robert (Gale) Connolly, Jack Connolly, Janet (Craig) Nickason, Susan (Doug Atkinson) Gilbert, Larry Connolly, numerous step-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service Monday February 2, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Church of Christ, Vulcan with Rev. Doug Barrie officiating.
Interment Vulcan Cemetery.
Casket bearers Allan Popovitch, Frank Cutler, Bob Shearer, Wesley Schierman, Warren McIlain and Darcy McIlwain.
