Cutforth, Ada May passed away June 18, 2010 at Vulcan at the age of 91 years.
Ada was born on April 3, 1919 at Carmangay, Alberta to John and Elizabeth Akitt. She was one of eight children. Ada grew up east of Carmangay where she developed her love of the outdoors and sports. She married Alfred Vaage in 1939 and raised seven children east of Champion on Snake Valley Farm. Alfred passed away in 1978. Ada married Art Cutforth in 1984 and lived on the farm near Vulcan until Art’s passing. Ada moved into Vulcan

Healy, Robert “Bob” Kenneth, beloved husband of Dorothy, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2010 at the age of 78 years.
Bob is also survived by six children Kenneth, Susan, Robert (Alona), Ronald (Cathy), Steven and Laurie (Steve), nine grandchildren as well as two brothers Keith (Marilyn) and Lorne (Marlene).
Bob was predeceased by his parents Lorne and Beatrice and brother Donald.

Russian, Armando Sr. passed away June 10, 2010 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 72 years.
Armando was born March 17, 1938 at Pazin, Croatia to Lucia and Antonio Russian. The war, which started shortly after, made life difficult for him and his family. The family was moved from on refugee camp to another. When the war ended, life for Armando did not improve as he had to grow up under communist rule. When he grew up, Armando knew he wanted to find a way out and start a new life in another country.

Whalley, Alan Charlton passed away June 12, 2010 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 83 years.
Alan was born on August 10, 1926 at Farnworth, Lanshire, England to Alice and Charlton Whalley. He received all his education in England. Alan fabricated sheet metal parts for airplanes for a living. He retired in 1992 and immigrated to Canada.
Alan was an avid gardener and kept his house and yard clean. He enjoyed living alone but loved to share the fruits of his labor with his friends and neighbors. Alan kept physically active and still chopped

Kraus, Kurt passed away May 12, 2010 at Gleichen, Alberta at the age of 46 years.
Kurt is survived by his mother Elsie (Peter) Outram, his father Manfred Kraus, two sisters Corinna (Darren) Gillespie and Anita Kraus.

A service was held Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Vulcan Cemetery Columbarium with Reverend Gordon Cranch officiating.

Billings, Hazel Mae passed away May 17, 2010 at Calgary, Alberta at the age of 83 years.
Hazel was born July 8, 1926 at Vulcan, Alberta to William and Minnietta Francis. She attended Thigh Hill School until Grade 8. Hazel went to work for Phil and Al Lucas as a farm housekeeper. She married George Dennuse on June 30, 1945 at Vulcan. They lived in Warner, Raymond and Lethbridge River Bottom working on cattle and sugar beet farms. They moved to Vulcan and Hazel cleaned rooms and Dr. Tompkins’ office and worked at the Vulcan Hospital

Brotherwood, Eveline Audrey passed away May 14, 2010 at Carmangay, Alberta at the age of 84 years.
Eveline was born December 28, 1925 at Calgary, Alberta to Margaret and Raymond Peterson. She attended school at Milo and Okotoks. Eveline took her nursing training at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary and achieved the highest standing in theory in her class. She married Orville Speer in 1948 and they had four children. Graham, Weldon Joseph passed away April 30, 2010 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 91 years.
Weldon was born July 5, 1918 at Prescott County, Vankleek Hill, Ontario to Fred and Annie Graham. The family moved to the Vulcan area in 1915. Weldon attended Vulcan schools and upon completion of his education, began farming with his father. He married Jean Margaret Christie in October, 1977. Weldon was a member of the Vulcan United Church. In his younger years he was an avid curler.
Weldon is survived by his brother Delbert and numerous cousins.

Celebration of Life service Sunday, May 2, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Champion Congregational Church with Pastor Amber Jordan officiating. The family has requested that those attending dress casual and wear blue.
