LACHANCE, Jennifer Grace 1984 – 2023

Jennifer, our precious daughter and Clayton’s beloved sister, passed away on October 14, 2023, at the age of 39.

Jennifer loved her family, children, music, and God. Her childhood was full of fun and laughter, playing with dolls, her brother and friends. From a young age, Jennifer’s love for music was evident. Her passion and personal discipline helped her become an accomplished pianist and she would eventually also learn guitar and vocals.

As a teenager, she discovered her love and gift of helping children with special needs and found a job with Pacekids. While attending U of C, she felt God calling her to help children with special needs in a closer way. In answer to this, she shifted pursuits to become a teacher’s aide. Jennifer worked with children who were severely handicapped, those with autism, children with emotional problems and even learned sign language to work with children who were deaf. It was her calling and a career she loved, but sadly it was cut short by illness.

In her mid 20’s, with her personal health declining she continued to care for others in the now limited ways she could. In her later years, she also developed a love for orangutans, elephants, and her special friend, a Beta fish named Farley.

Jennifer is survived by her loving parents Terry and Colleen Lachance, her brother Clayton, his wife Mildred and their son Carson, grandmother Mary Elias, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at 11 am at the Calgary Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Randy Barber officiating. Interment to take place in Vulcan Cemetery.

Tributes in Jennifer’s memory can be made to: Pacekids – www.pacekids.ca, FACE Free African Children thru Education – www.facecharity.net, BOS (Borneo Orangutan Survival) Foundation – www.orangutan.or.id.

My sincere condolences to the Lachance family as you mourn Jennifer’s passing. I can’t imagine what it is like to lose your child/sister. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” (Matt. 5:4) Divine comfort is the best form of comfort we can receive, and I trust that Jesus will provide the comfort and strength you need during this challenging time.

My prayers go out to Terry, Colleen, Clayton and the rest of her family. It is a hard thing to go through. It is only a season that we need to get through and God will call her forth. I know that she believed just as Tammy believed and one day soon we will see them again.

Thank you so much Val, this means a lot to our family. Jennifer was always loved by all who knew her. And Colleen did and outstanding job as her caregiver. Now Jen awaits the resurrection; where she will be healed and have no more pain or sickness.
