ERTMOED, Shirley Doreen (Nee: Mix)   1931 – 2024

Shirley Doreen Ertmoed (nee Mix) of Turner Valley, AB, passed away January 20th, 2024, at the age of 92 years after a courageous battle with cancer.

Shirley was born August 1, 1931 in Vulcan, AB, the youngest child to Karl Gustav Martin and Nettie Austina Mix. Shirley later moved to an acreage outside of Vulcan with her husband Harry until 1993 when Harry passed away. She then moved to Turner Valley, AB to be closer to family.

Shirley is survived by daughter in law Bitten Ertmoed and daughter in law Tibora Ertmoed, son in law Lionel Gingras, grandchildren Kevin Ertmoed (Sherry), Connie Schmidt (Randy), Gwen Pepin (Randy), Chad Jamieson (Reny), Dillon Ertmoed (Jordynn) and Jeremy Ertmoed and 10 great grandchildren. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Harry Ertmoed and their 4 children; Benjamin Ertmoed, Vance Ertmoed, Joyce Gingras, and Dan Ertmoed.

Shirley will be dearly missed and remembered for her kindness, strength and perseverance.

Celebration of Life to be held Sunday January 28th, 2024 at the Valley Neighbour’s Club (133 Sunset Blvd SW) in Turner Valley AB. from 2pm to 4pm. She will be laid to rest in the Family plot in the Vulcan Cemetery.

    Bitten, Connie and Kevin, our most sincere condolences to you in the loss of Grandma Shirley. She was a beautiful woman inside and out, and had a beautiful smile. She will be fondly remembered and forever missed. Rest easy Shirley.

    it was a pleasure to have met you , i work at Rising Sun where Shirley spent her final months. she was a lovely lady with the love for her card games. Rest sweet lady .. until we meet again.
