WARD, Mabel
1931 – 2009
Ward, Mabel, beloved wife of George, passed away October 4, 2009 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 78 years.
Mabel was born at Gleichen, Alberta on May 12, 1931 to Emily and Hugh Telford. She was raised on the BC coast and took grade 13 and Normal School training at Vancouver. After finishing school, Mabel went to visit relatives at Arrowwood and decided to stay. She worked at Mr. Munsey’s grocery store and operated the switchboard in the evening for CR Curtis. Mabel married George Ward on December 1, 1954 at High River and became a very dedicated ranch wife. She was a member of Unifarm for several years and served on the Arrowwood Community Hall Board.
Mabel is survived by her husband of 54 years George, two sons Ross (Barb) and Alan all of Arrowwood, two grandsons Scott Ward and his partner Joel Robison of Cranbrook, Ryan (Sandra) of Casper, Wyoming and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mabel was predeceased by her parents.
As per Mabel and the families request, there will be no funeral. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

George Ward and family wish to express their sincere gratitude to the entire staff of Vulcan Hospital for the warm loving care Mabel received during her stay there. Their distress over her illness was greatly relieved because they felt she was in the best hands and that she was treated with the utmost respect and gentleness. Thank you for making her final days interesting, comfortable and loving.
