Ed passed away peacefully Wednesday November 18, 2009 at the age of 86 years.
Ed was born September 16, 1923 in Birdsholm, AB to Henry and Leah Ully. The family moved to Picture Butte, AB when he was a boy, where he attended Bar Hill school. He married Ina Marttinnen November 1943 and together they farmed and raised their seven children at Bar Hill and Vulcan. In 1951 they moved to Vulcan where they continued farming and raising bulls. One of Ed’s greatest joys were his purebred Charolais’s for which he won many ribbons. The greatest attraction of his bulls was not only in the breading but in their disposition, he was the ”bull whisperer”. Ed had a very special way with all animals, especially the tough ones. He was always able to overcome all adversity in his life with his calm manner. After 52 years of marriage, Ina passed away in 1995. Ed married Georgina (nee: Bates) in 1998 and they continued to farm and raise bulls until he was 84 when he had to retire for health reasons.
Ed is survived and missed by his loving wife Georgina, his children Pat Street, Bev (Mervin) Slater, Brian (Margo), Don (Brenda) and Robert, a brother Leonard (Rom), a sister Vera Eskleland, sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, brother Alfred, sister Elvina, his first wife Ina, two sons Gary and Jerry, a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
