Tharle Bjornson, Clara passed away July 27, 2010 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 93 years.
Clara was born January 8, 1917 at Lethbridge, Alberta to Roy and Jessie Gold. When she was seven, the family moved to Vulcan. Clara attended school at Vulcan and went on to Calgary to attend Normal School. She taught for one year at Sunset Valley School. Clara married Howard Tharle on November 2, 1938 and became a farmer’s wife. She moved off the farm into Peter Dawson Lodge at Vulcan in 1994 and Howard passed away in 1995. In November, 1998 Clara married Ken Bjornson. Ken passed away in 2005 and Clara moved into Vulcan Extendicare that same year.
Clara was a long time member of the United Church and the United Church Women, was Mossleigh United Church delegate on Foothills Presbytery and was a 4H leader of the Girls Club.
Clara is survived by her daughter Helen McMullen, her son David (Barbara) Tharle, three stepdaughters Rosella (Bill) Pratt, Grace (Arne) Klitmoller, Gloria (Ray) Huot, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a nephew Roy (Amy) Bush.
Clara was predeceased by her first husband Howard, second husband Ken, sister Florence, two foster sons Ted (Elinor) Rummel and Ian Fischer and her parents.
Funeral service Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 1:30 pm at the Vulcan United Church (210 – 2 Ave S) with Reverend Henry Friesen officiating.
Honorary bearers Duane Hill, Barry Campbell, John Campbell and Walter McNiven.
Casket bearers David Campbell, Craig Campbell, Jeff Campbell, Bill Pratt, Arne Klitmoller and Erik Klitmoller.
Interment Vulcan Cemetery.
