Edith Garriock Canning formerly of Milo passed away May 27, 2011 at Didsbury, Alberta at the age of 89 years.
Edith was born August 23, 1921 on the family homestead at Arrowwood, third child of John and Annie Goldthorpe. She attended Eastway School for ten years when she quit to stay at home and help her mother on the farm. She assisted with the cooking and cleaning and chores for several years due to her mothers failing health. She eventually began working for numerous farmers throughout the community as a homemaker. Gordon George “Jordy” Petronech of Champion, Alberta passed away May 17, 2011 in Calgary at the age of 67 years.
Gordon was born December 9, 1943 in Coaldale, Alberta to Gordon and Betty Petronech. He attended school in Coaldale and Champion. Once he moved to the farm at Champion, Gordon knew that was where he always wanted to be.

Joyce Ann Birch passed away surrounded by her loving family April 27, 2011 at Vulcan, Alberta at the age of 74 years.
Joyce was born on May 29, 1936 Calgary, Alberta to John and Agnes “Nan” Black. Her early years were spent on the family dairy farm. She grew up learning the values of family, work and honesty. She was involved in the Bearspaw 4-H Club and showing her Ayrshire project. Her 4-H highlight was going to Toronto as part of the Alberta judging team and winning. Stuart Robertson Huskins passed away on saturday, April 2, 2011 at Carmangay, Alberta at the age of 77 years. He was born on July 4, 1933 at Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to Warden and Harriot Huskins.
Stuart was cremated and his urn will be inured into the Dear Park Cemetery, MacDowall, Saskatchewan in July 2011.

SOPIT, Prorkseda ‘Pearl’ 1907-1995
Prorkseda “Pearl” Sopit passed away peacefully at Vulcan Extendicare January 27, 1995 at the age of 87 years.
Pearl was born at Vegreville, Alberta February 18, 1907. One of six children. She married William Sopit in 1928 and together they farmed in Vegreville, Two Hills and Bonnyville. Pearl came to Vulcan in 1972 to Extendicare twenty-three years ago where she has resided since.
She was a very active, gracious, loving, caring and gentle lady who enjoyed sewing, embroidery, going for walks, camp weeks and bus trips. She was a very hard worker and when every there was work

Alice Dorothy Bartsch passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Sunrise Gardens in Brooks, Alberta at the age of 91 years.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 1:30 pm at the Milo Community Hall, Milo, Alberta. Officiated by Reverend Gordon Cranch. Interment followed in the O Perfect Peace Cemetery, Milo, Alberta.

HANSEN, Henry Peter, born November 1, 1925, passed away in Vulcan, Alberta on March 30, 2011, at the age of 85.
Henry was born at Ensign, Alberta, the youngest son of Agnes and Elmer Hansen. As a young boy he attended Derry School, a one-room prairie school located northwest of Vulcan. After finishing grade 12 in Vulcan in 1942, Henry returned to the family farm to begin his farming career, which he would continue for 66 years until his retirement in 2008. Norma Ellen (Adam) Silbernagel was born in Vulcan, Alberta on July 23, 1935. She took her schooling at Sunnyglen and Reid Hill, and then to Vulcan, Alberta. She road her pony to school at the age of 6 which was about 3 ½ miles.

Lorraine Lillian Pobst of Edmonton (formerly of Arrowwood) passed away March 6, 2011, in the University of Alberta Hospital at the age of 81 years.
Lorraine was born June 4, 1929 in Sundre, Alberta to Chris and Hazel Sheets, and lived in the Westward Ho area until moving to Calgary in 1941. After the war in 1945 the family relocated to New Westminster. After grade eleven, she went to work. She met Arnold Pobst shortly after and they were married March 26,1947.
