Clara was born July 5, 1912 at Queenstown, Alberta to Margaret and Aleck Johnson. Nelson, She passed away March 31, 2010 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 97 years. Clara took all her schooling at Queenstown and in 1930, married Nels Nelson, where they raised their five children. She loved to knit and crochet, many gifts her family now enjoy. Family meant the world to Clara and she really enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a life time member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Milo.

Moses, Helen passed away June 29, 2010 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 92 years.
Helen was born February 22, 1918 at Manyberries, Alberta to William and Cecylia Dutka. She moved to Champion in 1948 to marry George Moses. With her husband, Helen bought Champion Sundries in 1949 and that store continued to be a well-known fixture on Champion’s main street for the next 30 years. George and Helen also operated a general insurance agency and an Alberta Treasury Branch agency during the 1960s. After George passed away in 1970, Helen continued to manage the

Campbell, Colin Sidney “Unc” passed away on August 10, 2010 at Brooks, Alberta at the age of 79 years.
Colin is survived by his wife Maria, a sister Alice Bartsch and numerous nieces and nephews.

Prentice, Kenneth George “Ken”(a.k.a. Sid) passed away suddenly August 24, 2009 at Milo at the age of 46 years.
Ken was born at Bassano, Alberta on April 9, 1963 to Jim and Brenda Prentice. He attended Milo School and County Central High School at Vulcan. Ken obtained his mechanics licence in 1985 and co-managed the Milo Garage as well as helping his dad farm. He also worked on the pipeline for many years. Ken married Ann Olsson on March 21, 1987 and they resided in Milo. In 1990, they purchased the

Phillips, Lloyd, beloved husband of the late Dorothy, passed away January 6, 2010 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 92 years.
Lloyd was born and raised on a farm east of Cayley, Alberta on January 1, 1918. The family moved to Valley, Washington in 1929 where Lloyd attended and graduated from High School . The family later returned to the farm at Cayley. Lloyd married Dorothy Ransom in 1948.
He was beloved by all his family and all made numerous visits to see him.

COSKEY-MCKAY, Gwendolyn – 1916-2010
Gwen was born at Chinook, Alberta to William and Nellie Short. Gwen met and married Bruce McKay. Together they farmed and raised their three children in the Reid Hill District and later moved into Vulcan. Following Bruce’s passing in 1970, Gwen moved to Calgary. She met and married Ed Coskey in 1974. After Ed’s passing in 2005, Gwen moved back to Vulcan into the Wheat Country apartments, then the Peter Dawson Lodge and finally Vulcan Extendicare.
Over the years Gwen enjoyed curling, golfing, bowling, painting and later doing many handy crafts with her grandchildren.

DAWSON, Deirdre “Dee” Maureen – 1946-2010
Dawson, Dee passed away peacefully July 3, 2010 at the Vulcan Extendicare surrounded by her family and friends.
Dee was born August 20, 1946 at Edmonton, Alberta and, shortly after, was adopted by Cecil and Beulah Dennison of Vulcan County. Living on the farm as an only child soon instilled in her the love for animals, especially cats, as those “Special People” as she called them, became her closest companions.
After graduating from high school in Vulcan, she attended the University of Alberta where she obtained her teaching diploma. Her love for music had also blossomed within the Royal Conservatory

Tolsdorf, Frank John passed away at home in Lomond, Alberta August 17, 2010 at the age of 85 years.
Frank was born on April 8, 1925 at Perry Oklahoma to Henry and Emma Tolsdorf. His family moved to Canada and bought the King farm in the spring of 1928. Frank attended Casmir and Travers schools. When his dad passed away in 1941, Frank became the head of the household. He quit school to help the family run their various enterprises. Wickstrom, Betty passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on November 12, 2009 at the age of 81 years.
Betty was born in Calgary on May 26, 1928, the only daughter and third child of Donald and Hazel Smith. She grew up in the Reid Hill and Berrywater districts and attended Marshall, Berrywater and Vulcan schools. Upon graduation, Betty moved to Calgary and was employed by United Grain Growers as a comptometer operator for four years. It was during this time that Betty met Stan Wickstrom and they were married on June 25, 1949 at the Church of Christ in
HALL, Joyce Elaine – 1939-2010
Hall, Joyce Elaine affectionately known as “Bonk” passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary January 17, 2010 after complications following surgery at the age of 70 years.
Elaine was the eldest daughter of Harold and Clara Bride, born at Vulcan on June 16, 1939. She attended school at Vulcan until the family moved to the Brant/Ensign area where she attended Brant school. After finishing school Elaine started working for the CIBC Bank. She married Richard “Dick” Hall of the Blackie district on March 16, 1957. They moved onto Elaine’s parents farm and farmed with her parents.
