SHARP, Edna ‘Lynne’ 1946 – 2023

It’s with great sadness that the family of Lynne Sharp announce her peaceful passing, at the Tudor Manor, Okotoks December 26, 2023 at the age of 77 years.

Lynne was born in Vulcan, AB on September 23, 1946, second daughter of Ed and Margaret Richardson. She attended grades one through twelve in Vulcan.

After growing up in the same community together, Lynne married Bill Sharp on October 30, 1965 and they resided on the family farm. Together, they raised two children – Jan Loree and Darren. In 1973, Bill and Lynne purchased the farm from his parents after they retired to Vulcan. They spent the next 35 years raising their family, farming and enjoying wonderful friends, family and neighbors and being active in the Berrywater Community.

In 2008, Bill and Lynne sold the farm and retired to High River where Lynne continued to live after Bill passed away in August of 2017. Again, they were blessed to have fantastic neighbors and very much enjoyed town life. Lynne was very blessed to do some traveling over the years – Canada, various United States, Australia/New Zealand, Caribbean, Mexico and her favorite – Italy.

Lynne enjoyed traveling, golf, good friends and most of all, her family, especially her two grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by many.

Lynne is survived by her two children – Jan Loree (Derrick) Hurl of Vulcan, Darren Sharp of Okotoks, her precious grandchildren – Makenna and Mason Sharp, sister Helen (Bill) Olinik of Regina, very special nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Dorothy Sharp and a host of friends. Lynne was predeceased by her husband Bill in 2017, parents Ed & Margaret Richardson, in-laws Bill and Helma Sharp, sisters-in-law Rose Fox and Betty (Darwin) Miller, and brothers-in-law John Sharp and Don Fox.

Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 1:30 pm at the Vulcan Church of Christ (409-1 St. S), Pastor David Skinner officiating. Inurnment Vulcan Cemetery Columbarium.

Tributes in Lynne’s memory can be made to the Brenda Stafford Foundation (Tudor Manor) online at www.thebsf.ca or the Vulcan County Health & Wellness Foundation, Box 28, Vulcan, AB, T0L 2B0, or to vchw.foundation@gmail.com.

Sincere condolences on the passing of your mother and grandmother, Jan Loree, Darren, and family. She was a special lady and very kind. Your folks were missed in the Milo area when they moved to High River and I know how much they were always appreciated by their friends. I joined the Lions Club the year after they moved, so I missed being in Lions with your Dad by one year. It was good seeing your Dad when he would come to the Interclub with Ted Oakes, and both of your parents when they would come for the barbecue in August.

I was sorry to hear that Lynne was suffering as much as she was, especially for someone who had been so active and enjoyed travelling. May you find peace in coming to terms with her passing, as well as inspiration from her memory and her love for you.

        Dear Jan, Darren and families,
I was sadden to hear of the passing of your dear mom and grandmother. I remember when she was a girl in High School, I drove the bus that picked her up at the farm. She always got on the bus with a “Good Morning smile”. When she and your dad moved to High River they were my neighbours, just two doors away. Wonderful people!
My sympathies to you and your families. God give you his peace.

We were so sorry to hear about the passing of your dear Mother and Grandmother. Jan, thank you for the updates of Mom’s health so we could feel we were with you as you watched over her. Darren, we know how much you were there for her. Your Mom was a loving person who always had a kind word for everyone she ran into and I remember her lovely singing. Leighton remembers attending birthday parties of all the neighbour kids in the community—including Laura, Lynell, Lynne, and Leighton. Please know that our prayers are with you as you cherish the wonderful memories of your Mom/Grandmother. Hugs, Leighton and Penny
