Schierman, John was called home to his Lord and Savior November 6, 2009 at Vulcan, Alberta at the age of 93 years.
John was born February 20, 1916 at Calgary, Alberta to John Sr and Mary Schierman. He attended Sandy Point School near Hilda, Alberta, Riverside Elementary in Calgary, Giffen School near Queenstown, Langevin in Calgary and SAIT. He married Wilhelmina Rausch in Calgary in May 1942. They farmed at Queenstown until 1947 when they purchased the Charlie Hay farm near Vulcan. John retired in 1975 and moved into Vulcan where he resided until his passing.
John loved gardening, tinkering, using his camera and learning new things. He was a member of the Vulcan Evangelical Missionary Church. Visits and telephone conversations with family and friends were important throughout his life. We will miss his firm hand clasp, his deep voice, his bright smile and his twinkling eyes.
John will be sadly missed by two children Sandra (Jim) Stelter and Wesley (Lucille) Schierman, five grandchildren Donna (Ray) Schneider, Paul (Aimee) Stelter, Allan Schierman, Karen Stelter, Tom Schierman, four great grandchildren Eden, Gideon, Titus, Solomon Stelter, three sisters Lillian Hartung (Joe Ashmore), Freda (Charles) Budd and Lenore (Eric) Deimert, sister-in-law Ruby Sherman, numerous nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his wife Wilhelmina, his father John, mother Mary, three sisters Katharina, Mary and Pauline, three brothers David, Samuel and Albert.
Funeral Service Thursday November 12, 2009 at 11 am at Vulcan Evangelical Missionary Church.
