Dorothy Jean Myers
April 8, 1916 – February 19, 2018

Myers, Dorothy Jean, formerly of Vulcan, passed away in Claresholm on February 19, 2018 at the age of 101 years.

Dorothy was born in Naseby, SK, one of five children born to Harry and Jean Levers. At the age of 16, Dorothy moved to Calgary to take a position as a maid. It was while she was in Calgary that she took a hair dressing course. In 1938, she moved to Vulcan and worked in the hair salon in the Vulcan Hotel. She purchased a small shop on Main Street in Vulcan and while working there, she met Ellwood Myers. They were married in December of 1944 while Ellwood was serving in the Navy. Upon Ellwood’s return, they lived in Vulcan and had three children. Ellwood and Dorothy farmed east of Vulcan for many years. They travelled to Arizona each winter and eventually moved back into Vulcan upon retirement.

Ellwood passed away in 2004 and shortly after that, Dorothy moved into the Peter Dawson Lodge where she lived until 2016, at which time she moved to Claresholm.

Dorothy is survived by her son Stuart (Fern) Myers and daughter Marion (Wendel) Jones, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law – Eileen Caldwell and Mary Levers. She was predeceased by her husband Ellwood, a son Lloyd, grandson Donal, her parents and siblings.

There will be no Funeral Service at Dorothy’s request. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.

    We were sorry to hear of the passing of Grandma Myers. We understand she was a wonderful woman.
