It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Lillian McMorris, on Aug. 18. 2012 after a tiring battle with cancer. She was 91 years old.
Mom was born in her parents’ home at Pine Lake, Alberta on March 24, 1921. She was the last of seven children, all of whom are now deceased.
Her youth was a hard working, but happy time and that, we are sure is where her unique sense of humor came from. She was able to hold onto her humor right up till the last which was wonderful for us.
August 3, 1944, Mom married George McMorris and moved to the Buffalo Hills ranch #2 at Queenstown. Dad and Mom were both hard workers and built up a beautiful place. They farmed and ranched and had a real love for the cattle industry. They spent many of their winters in Mesa, Arizona, a time that was very special. Lillian loved her garden and was famous for her angel food cakes, butter tarts and chocolate chip cookies.
Mom stayed on the farm until 2008, when she moved into the Peter Dawson Lodge in Vulcan. She lived there until June of this year, then was sent to the Palliative Care Unit in the Vulcan Hospital. We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Lodge who made her feel so at home by letting her do special little tasks for them. Also to the wonderful nurses and staff at the hospital who took such good care of Mom with dedication, caring and tenderness.
Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband George in 1988 and dear son Gary, in 2001. A very sad time for her.
Lillian is lovingly remembered by her daughter Wendy,( Larry Helland), grandson Justin(Karen) Helland and great grandchildren Clay, Rayne, and Zaine, grandson Jarrett (Lori) Helland, great grandchildren Kinley, Presley and Charli, Daughter-in-law Brenda McMorris, grandson Wyatt (Christine) McMorris, great grandchildren Easton and Ryan, granddaughter Alexis (Scott) Scobie, great grandchildren Payton, Corbin, and Dryden, granddaughter Morgan (Mike) Fulton, great grandchildren Mikaela and Lincon, grandson Kale (Jennifer) McMorris, twin great grandsons Garyn and Kash and numerous friends and relatives. Moms family was her world. She will be sadly missed.
Funeral Service was Friday, August 24, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Vulcan United Church with Rev. Gordon Cranch officiating.
