BOUTLAND, Charles “Chuck” R. 1950 – 2012

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Charles Raymond “Chuck” Boutland, on Wednesday August 15, 2012.

Chuck is survived by his wife Kathy, his children Katherine (Scott), David (Gabby) and Jennifer, his grandsons Chase, Quinton and Cooper, his mother Wilma, and sister Debbie, as well as an endless amount of dear friends. Chuck was predeceased by his father Charlie.

Chuck was born in Vulcan, Alberta on January 6, 1950. After finishing high school, Chuck met the love of his life Kathy and they moved to Calgary. Shortly after, Chuck joined the Calgary City Police Department and was employed there for 5 years. Then they decided to move back to Vulcan to raise a family and enter the family business. Chuck ran the Vulcan IGA for the next 20 years, with a brief 3 year stint trying his hand at ranching. In 1997, Chuck opened an IGA in High River, and for the rest of his life was happy to call High River his home. Chuck retired from the grocery business in 2010 and soon after was voted on to the High River town council. Chuck poured his heart and soul into everything he did, and was a valued member of every community he was a part of.

The two greatest passions in life were his family and fishing. In his younger days, Chuck would be out fishing with Charlie nearly every weekend. In recent summers, you would find Chuck on his boat in Big Fork, Montana with his 3 grandsons and smile on his face. In his earlier years, Chuck also enjoyed golfing, curling and hunting. Chuck was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, everything he did was with his family in mind.

Celebration of Life service was held Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Highwood Memorial Centre, 128-5 Ave. SW, High River, with Pastor Brett Annable officiating.

Private family inurnment Vulcan Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Town of High River Field House Complex Project, a project Chuck was very passionate about.

Kathy And Boutland Family, we will miss Chuck’s friendly smile. Gerry and I were remembering so good and funny times about Chuck and school at County Central in Vulcan. It was so neat when you and your family moved to High River to start the new IGA store here. We shared a love of High River and Vulcan. Chuck will be missed by family, friends and the citizens our two communities. Rest in Peace our Friend.
