MCCULLOCH, Angus 1937 – 2019

Angus McCulloch of Vulcan (formerly of Champion), beloved husband of Lois, passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Community Health Center on June 12, 2019 at the age of 81 years.

Angus was born Aug. 8, 1937 on the family farm in Lawson, SK, 9th of 10 children born to Colin and Jean McCulloch. Angus left home at 16 for Alberta, working as a carpenter. He followed his brother to Nobleford in 1960 to work at Noble Cultivators, first as a truck driver then as a factory sales rep. Here he met Lois Vaage and they were married on the family farm in 1963. They started their family in Nobleford and moved to Vulcan to farm with Lois’ family in 1967. Five years later, they built a house east of Champion where they continued farming and raising their three children. Upon retiring, Angus and Lois built a house in Vulcan to be closer to the golf course.

Community was very important to Angus and he was an active member of the Champion Lion’s Club, Champion Curling Club, Vulcan Curling Club, Vulcan Golf Club, and the local Senior Center. His friendships lasted for a lifetime.

Most important to Angus was family. They followed their children around Alberta to all school activities and sports events, then all their grandchildren, and even great-nieces/nephews. He was always looking for an excuse to get together, it could be camping, reunions, hunting, barbeque, a cup of coffee, or a beer. It was the time together that he cherished.

Besides his loving wife, Lois, of 56 years, Angus is survived by daughter Terri (Murray) Northcott, children Rylan (Sarah), Taylor (Jessica, baby Harper), Logan; son Cal (Marla) McCulloch, their son Kyle (Julie); and daughter Kim (Cam) Fraser, children Jolene (Cole), Heather, Jace, and Kirk. He’s also survived by sister Lucille Barby, sister in law Verna McCulloch, brothers in law Darryl (Lynne) Vaage, Alvin (Faith) Vaage, Marv (Bev) Vaage and Jack Lelond, sisters-in-law Diane (David) Lundgren and Myrna (Gord) Tebbutt and many, many nieces and nephews. Angus was predeceased by his parents, six brothers, two sisters and extended family members.

Private family inurnment will be held at the Champion Cemetery, followed by the Celebration of Life on July 2nd, 2019 at 1:30 pm in the Champion Hall.

Any tributes in Angus’ memory can be made to the Vulcan Community Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit, Box 299, Vulcan, AB T0L 2B0.

Deepest Sympathy to the McCulloch family. Will remember Angus’ kind and happy spirit. It was such fun catching up with Lois and Angus at the Men’s World Curling Championship in Lethbridge.
