Arnold Edward Erasmus passed away suddenly at his home in Arrowwood, Alberta August 11, 2003 at the age of 66 years.
Arnold was born February 15, 1936 at the family homestead 8 miles north of Vilna, Alberta, the first born of a family of three, to Edward and Ruby Erasmus. He attended a one room school call Castle Park until grade 8 then attended Vilna High School.
Arnold worked in a sawmill, bank and steel mill. After working at Algoma Steel, he attended Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and received a Certificate of Engineering Technology and a Certificate in Welding. He was also a skilled carpenter. During his career, he designed and drew blueprints for many companies. Arnold was last employed with Global until his retirement in 1998.
Arnold had a life long passion for photography and baseball. As a pitcher, he was known as the man with the golden arm. Arnold also enjoyed curling and skiing.
Arnold met Jean MacLean, a lass from Nova Scotia, in September 1970 and they were married in June 1971. Together they had a great quality of life. They built their own home in Arrowwood in 1980, made many friends in the area and became great neighbors. They traveled in their camper that Arnold built from B.C to Nova Scotia and skied the great runs of the Rockies. They retired and continued to travel and do all the things they loved to do together.
Beloved husband and best friend of Jean of Arrowwood, loving brother of two sisters Elaine MacLean of Calgary and Doreen Keith of Cranbrook, B.C., three sisters-in law and four brothers-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews.
Arnold was predeceased by his parents Edward and Ruby Erasmus.
Memorial service Saturday August 16, 2003 at 11 A.M. at Arrowwood United Church with Rob Moore D.M. officiating.
In lieu of flowers, tributes in Arnold’s memory could be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta 1825 Park Rd. S.E. Calgary, T2G 3Y6.
