Dawson, Dee passed away peacefully July 3, 2010 at the Vulcan Extendicare surrounded by her family and friends.
Dee was born August 20, 1946 at Edmonton, Alberta and, shortly after, was adopted by Cecil and Beulah Dennison of Vulcan County. Living on the farm as an only child soon instilled in her the love for animals, especially cats, as those “Special People” as she called them, became her closest companions.
After graduating from high school in Vulcan, she attended the University of Alberta where she obtained her teaching diploma. Her love for music had also blossomed within the Royal Conservatory of Music courses she took. Moving to Calgary with her husband Robert (Dow), Dee taught high school
for 14 years. In 1974 she married Richard Dawson and three years later, with new husband in tow, she moved down to the farm. A new home, new school and eventually a new family filled her time for the next several decades. Her love for music reached all aspects of her life and she became a regular fixture as the pianist and organist at weddings, funerals and church functions throughout the community.
Dee will be lovingly remembered by her husband Rick, son Andy, daughter-in-law Mindy and daughter Shannon along with a host of family and friends.
Celebration of Life service Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 2:30 pm at the Cultural Recreational Centre at Vulcan with Rev. Henry Friesen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, tributes in Dee’s memory can be made to the Vulcan Extendicare Ladies Auxiliary, Box 810, Vulcan T0L 2B0 or the Calgary Humane Society (SPCA), 4455 -110 Avenue SE, Calgary T2E 6T6.

So dreadfully sad to hear of Dee’s passing. We were close as children, but grew apart over the years. I will always remember her warm smile and the full joy she took in life.

Dee, We know that you are up above playing the music you so loved on the piano for God and the angels—surrounded by your cats. Our condolences to your family and all your friends, but we all know that you are finally at peace and there is no more fog—only sunshine. Love Penny & Leighton
How saddened – and startled -I was to learn of Dee’s passing! She was a lovely, lively lady who was a great family friend in years gone by. Her visits to our farm back in the 70’s were always so enjoyable and memorable! Her illness has been heartbreaking for all but we trust Dee is now in a better place. My sympathy to all her family and friends! Marvin Maronda of Lomond
