Laura Jane (Williams) Gooch, of Okotoks, formerly of Arrowwood, passed away January 2, 2013 at High River Hospital at the age of 88 years.
Laura Jane, daughter of John and Oral Williams, was born on May 3, 1924 in Cove, Oregon. She moved to the Arrowwood area with her parents and two brothers, Jack and Dale, in 1928 where they made their home and started farming 5 miles SE of Arrowwood. They were also avid gardeners and Laura Jane often spoke of her mother’s huge garden.
Jack, Dale and Laura Jane all belonged to the Jr. U.F.A. and enjoyed many Saturday night

Vera Esther Hartung (Maetche), age 81 of Calgary, passed away with family by her side November 27, 2012 at the Prince of Peace Manor, Calgary, Alberta.

Nora (Reid) Howerton of Vulcan, passed away on November 23, 2012 at Vulcan Community Health Center at the age of 82 years.
Nora is survived by her son Paul (Charlotte) Wald of Vulcan, granddaughter Melissa (Darren) Williams of Strathmore, grandson Preston (Kaillie) Wald of Medicine Hat, great-grandchildren Thomas, Danica and Michaela Williams, Drayton and Reid Wald, a sister Frances Hagg and numerous nieces and nephews. Nora was predeceased by her parents Alex and May Reid, husband Dahl Howerton,and brother-in-law Jiggs Hagg.

Andrews, Charles “Charlie” Robert, of Vulcan, passed away at Vulcan Extendicare on November 8, 2012 at the age of 94 years.
Charlie was born September 6, 1918 at Vulcan to Frederick and Elsina Andrews. Charlie joined the army in 1941 and went overseas in 1942, serving in Great Britain, Italy and Holland with the Fifth Armoured Brigade Workshop and No.70 L.A.D. New Brunswick Hussars. He returned home in the spring of 1946 and resumed farming with his family.
Charlie met his wife Edo in 1948 and they were married June 12, 1950. Charlie and Edo had two children, George and Lynne. In

Margaret (Popovitch) Black of Champion, passed away October 15, 2012 at Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary at the age of 79 years.
Margaret is survived by niece Margie (Charlie) Arnold, nephews Allan (Georgie) and David Popovitch and numerous great nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her parents Constantine and Mary, brother John, sister-in-law Isobel Graham and a niece Diane Popovitch.

On October 10th, after a valiant battle, Sandra McKenzie passed away
peacefully surrounded by friends and family. Sandra will be remembered for
her laughter, creativity and generosity.
She leaves to mourn, a husband, Clark McKenzie and mother, Georgie

Schalin, Susan Joyce (Hayes) of Arrowwood, passed away on October 4, 2012 at
the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 64 years.
Susan was born November 7,1947 in Calgary Grace Hospital and is the youngest
of four children born to Stewart and Ella Hayes. She grew up on the family farm east
of Arrowwood. She attended Arrowwood School and then High School in Vulcan.
She continued her education at Olds College taking a secretarial course. Upon
completion she worked at the Calgary Cancer Clinic.
She met Marven Schalin while attending college in Olds and were later married in
