Brotherwood, Eveline Audrey passed away May 14, 2010 at Carmangay, Alberta at the age of 84 years.
Eveline was born December 28, 1925 at Calgary, Alberta to Margaret and Raymond Peterson. She attended school at Milo and Okotoks. Eveline took her nursing training at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary and achieved the highest standing in theory in her class. She married Orville Speer in 1948 and they had four children. Orville passed away in 1957. In 1961 Eveline married William “Bill” Brotherwood and moved to Lomond. They were married for seven years and had two children. With such a large family, Eveline soon began tearing out walls to enlarge the small farm house and put in her own plumbing system. In 1969 Eveline moved to Vulcan where she worked as a Registered Nurse in the Vulcan Hospital until her retirement. In 2004 she moved into Long Term Care at Vulcan Community Health Centre and then to the Little Bow Auxiliary Hospital at Carmangay in 2008 where she resided until her passing.
Eveline loved gardening and won awards for her yard in Vulcan. In her spare time she took up oil painting and displayed several of her paintings in her home. Eveline also loved to knit, crochet, tat, cross stitch and embroider.
Eveline is survived by her two daughters Linda (Fred) Heather, Margaret (Myles) Wilkinson, two sons Casey Speer, Rod (Sandy) Speer, David (Sandy) Brotherwood, nine grandchildren Candice, Gillian, Lee, Wade and Jonathan (DiAnne) Speer, Braydon Brotherwood, Desiree (James) Cowan, Raymond and Taylor Wilkinson, two sisters Muriel Armstrong, Loretta (Ed) Berno and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eveline was predeceased by her first husband Orville, second husband Bill, daughter Patsy, two brothers Jackie and William, sister Helen and her parents.
Memorial service Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 1:30 pm at Vulcan United Church with Sue MacDonald DM officiating.
