Cutforth, Ada May passed away June 18, 2010 at Vulcan at the age of 91 years.
Ada was born on April 3, 1919 at Carmangay, Alberta to John and Elizabeth Akitt. She was one of eight children. Ada grew up east of Carmangay where she developed her love of the outdoors and sports. She married Alfred Vaage in 1939 and raised seven children east of Champion on Snake Valley Farm. Alfred passed away in 1978. Ada married Art Cutforth in 1984 and lived on the farm near Vulcan until Art’s passing. Ada moved into Vulcan

Bill passed away peacefully on June 21, 2010 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre in the presence of his loving wife Lynn. Bill spent his youth in Ogden playing baseball and hockey. He attended Michigan Tech on a hockey scholarship where he acquired his geology degree. While attending Michigan Tech, he played goal for a Chicago Blackhawks farm team. After working at Home Oil for some time, Bill chose to follow his passion and became a teacher. He attended the University of Alberta and University of Calgary to obtain his teaching degree. Bill passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Hospital at the spry age of 85 years of age. Bill was born in High River on April 11, 1925. Bill worked with his siblings on the family dairy farm just outside of High River until 1950, started with Farm Electric in 1950, married the love of his life Jean on April 11, 1953 (beginning their life-long venture together), joined Calgary Power (Transalta) in 1955, living in a trailer for a few years, Gleichen until 1981 then Vulcan where he finished his career retiring in 1984.

Moses, Helen passed away June 29, 2010 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 92 years.
Helen was born February 22, 1918 at Manyberries, Alberta to William and Cecylia Dutka. She moved to Champion in 1948 to marry George Moses. With her husband, Helen bought Champion Sundries in 1949 and that store continued to be a well-known fixture on Champion’s main street for the next 30 years. George and Helen also operated a general insurance agency and an Alberta Treasury Branch agency during the 1960s. After George passed away in 1970, Helen continued to manage the

Dawson, Dee passed away peacefully July 3, 2010 at the Vulcan Extendicare surrounded by her family and friends.
Dee was born August 20, 1946 at Edmonton, Alberta and, shortly after, was adopted by Cecil and Beulah Dennison of Vulcan County. Living on the farm as an only child soon instilled in her the love for animals, especially cats, as those “Special People” as she called them, became her closest companions.
After graduating from high school in Vulcan, she attended the University of Alberta where she obtained her teaching diploma. Her love for music had also blossomed within the Royal Conservatory

Ashby, Vera (Stokes) passed away peacefully July 3, 2010 at Lethbridge, Alberta at the age of 83 years.
Mom was born July 1, 1927 at Retlaw, Alberta and shortly after moved to Lomond, Alberta where she grew up, married and raised her family of three boys. She also worked at the Lomond School as a teacher’s aide, librarian and secretary. In her retirement, she moved to St. Albert, then Chemainus and finally to Lethbridge. Throughout her life, Mom enjoyed volunteering, gardening, walking, reading and traveling. In her volunteer work with groups such as the Goodwill Service Club

Dick Middleton, a loving father, devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away at his farm on July 4, 2010.
Dick is survived by his wife Debbie, daughters Avi, Marjorie, Angela, Joanna, Amber (Jared Puzey), Arren (Buck Middleton) and Jackie, his beautiful grandchildren Owen, Emry, Maryssa, Gilbert, Lilyanne and Calum, his brothers John (Roxanne), Albert (Maxine), sisters Annalee (Brian), Maura (Kurt), Marg (Shilo), Inez (Laurent), mother and father-in-law Len and Mary Scheibner, brothers-in-law Larry Scheibner, Barry (Alma-Lynn) Morcom, sisters-in-law Diane (Bill) King, Bonnie (Pat) Hart and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Marshman, Robert Reginald “Bob” passed away peacefully on July 10, 2010 at the Peter Loughead Hospital in Calgary at the age of 84 years.
Bob is survived by two nieces Marilyn Marshman, Suzanne (Bud) Grouette and great niece Amanda Grouette. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews in Athabasca and sister-in-law Viola Marshman.
He was predeceased by three brothers in infancy, brothers William “Bud”, Harold “Jock” and sister Ruth.

Broere, Neeltje “Nell” passed away peacefully on July 13, 2010 at the Vulcan Extendicare at the age of 87 years.
Nell was born January 13, 1923 at Capelle a/d Ijssel, Holland to Krijn and Aletta Verkaik. She received all her education in Holland and, in 1946, married Adriaan Broere. Their three oldest children were born in Holland and the family immigrated to Canada in 1952. Nell and Andy were blessed with a fourth child in Canada. Nell worked hard to make a good life for her children. She was an impeccable housekeeper and always kept active.

Munton, Stanley Warren was called home to his Lord and Savior July 16, 2010 at Lethbridge at the age of 83 years.
Stan was born May 16, 1927 at the home of midwife Hilda Marshman at Champion to Enan and Mary Anne Munton. Stan attended Sanderson and Gerrard schools east of Champion. During his younger years Stan worked for the land and irrigation company, riding 22 miles per day to check for any leaks or cracks in the canal. Later he worked for various farmers in the area.
