GUSTAVE THEODORE “GUS” STULBERG, BELOVED HUSBAND OF THE LATE VI STULBERG OF VULCAN, ALBERTA PASSED AWAY NOVEMBER 28 AT VULCAN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE AT THE AGE OF 77 YEARS.

GUS WAS BORN AUGUST 5, 1923 AT MAZENOD, SASKATCHEWAN TO HENRY AND ALVINA STULBERG. HE ATTENDED CRAIK, AND LATER AT THE AGE OF 17 YEARS DAVIDSON SCHOOL. HE GRADUATED IN 1941 AND JOINED THE ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE WHERE HE SERVED AS A WIRELESS AIR GUNNER UNTIL 1946. HE MET VIOLET “VI” MATHIESON AND THE FOLLOWING YEAR, IN JULY OF 1947 THEY MARRIED AT MOOSE JAW, SASKATCHEWAN. GUS CONTINUED HIS SERVICE AS AN AVIONICS TECHNICIAN MOVING TO THIRTY-SIX DIFFERENT LOCATIONS IN THE TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF SERVICE UNTIL RETIRING IN 1973. GUS AND VI MOVED TO VULCAN WHERE HE WORKED FOR REVELSTOKE BUILDING SUPPLY UNTIL 1981, THEN HE BEGAN WORKING FOR ALBERTA PARKS, DEPARTMENT OF SUPPLIES, UNTIL HE FULLY RETIRED IN 1983. GUS HAS CONTINUED TO RESIDE IN VULCAN SINCE.

GUS ENJOYED GOLFING, GARDENING AND YARD WORK, WOODWORKING AND TRAVELLING.

HE WAS AN AVID LIFE MEMBER OF THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION, VULCAN BRANCH, BURMA STAR, AND THE R.C.A.F. AND EX-AIR GUNNER ASSOCIATION, HALIFAX ASSOCIATION AND NANTON LANCASTER ASSOCIATION, HE WAS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE INDEPENDENT ORDER OF FORESTERS SINCE 1957.

GUS IS SURVIVED BY THREE BROTHERS ALFRED (DOROTHY) OF DAVIDSON, SASKATCHEWAN, JOHN (IRENE) OF MOOSE JAW, SASKATCHEWAN AND ED (JEAN) OF REGINA, A SISTER AMY ROW OF DAVIDSON, THREE SISTERS-IN-LAW ALICE (FRANK) JEPPS OF ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE, FLORENCE HUTTOLA OF MOOSE JAW AND JEAN (BOB) AMON OF TAYLOR, B.C, MOTHER-IN-LAW ALICE MATHIESON OF MOOSE JAW, TWO BROTHERS-IN-LAW SANDY MATHIESON OF CHILLIWACK AND JIM (LYNN) MATHIESON OF KAMLOOPS, NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

GUS WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS LOVING WIFE VI IN MAY OF THIS YEAR, A BROTHER MARTIN, SISTER OLGA SMITH AND HIS PARENTS.

FUNERAL SERVICE MONDAY DECEMBER 4, 2000 AT 1:30 P.M. AT THE VULCAN LEGION HALL WITH REV. DOUG BARRIE OFFICIATING.

INTERMENT FIELD OF HONOUR, VULCAN CEMETERY.

HONOUR GUARD WERE MEMBERS OF THE VULCAN ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION Br.21.

CASKET BEARERS WERE DAYTON WILLIAMS, JOHN SCATTERGOOD, GEORGE BELLOWS, GRANT WOLFE, ROD SPEER AND WARD KNIGHT.
