Ila Davis Lundgren, beloved wife of the late Reinhold Eric Lundgren, passed away on September 26, 2007 at Vulcan Extendicare and the age of 91years.
Ila was born on the family farm east of Vulcan in the Reid Hill district on May 1, 1916 to Frank and Irene Davis. Ila’s elementary education began in a one-room school house called Marshall. It was very convenient for the Davis children for the school was just ¼ mile south of their home. In 1925, the Davis family moved to the northwestern United States, spending five years in Portland, Oregon, where Ila finished her elementary school education. The family moved back to their Alberta farm in 1930. Ila took part of her high school education by correspondence and part at the Vulcan High School. In the fall of 1936, she moved to Calgary. After completing a short business course, she worked as a comptometer operator until her marriage.
On September 23rd 1939, Ila married Reinhold Eric Lundgren at the family farm in the Reid Hill district. Their first home was on a rented farm, eight miles south of Vulcan. In 1941, they relocated twelve miles northeast of Vulcan. They continued to rent land for the next three years, and in the fall of 1943, they purchased the former Lloyd Munson farm, which was located eight miles east of Vulcan. They were primarily grain farmers and retired in 1974. Reinhold and Ila lived on the family farm for fifty-seven years until they moved into the Town of Vulcan.
Ila enjoyed her family foremost, but also liked to read, play games, camp, travel, scrapbook, play the piano, and sing. In her younger days, she was active in the Candlelight Circle of the Vulcan Church of Christ.
Ila is survived by four children, daughter Louise (Wayne) Cutforth of Calgary; three sons Lawrence (Bev) of Balzac, David (Diane) of Vulcan, Gary (Bev) of Red Deer, ten grandchildren: Shane (Leanne) Lundgren, Devon (Rob) Lavigne, Jeff (Edie) Lundgren, Koreen (Aaron) Preece, Lisa Cutforth, Cory Lundgren, Lia (Rod) Kurylo, Marla (Ryan) Loyva, Jason Lundgren, Christopher Lundgren; two step-grandchildren, James Hektner and Tarryl Hektner; sister Clista Heather, sister-in-law Mildred Ricciutti, niece Luella Lind, long-time friend Ada Cutforth, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great grand-children and friends.
Ila was predeceased by her beloved husband Reinhold in 2003, brother Roy (Mable) Davis, two sisters Mae (Ernie) Lind, Margaret Davis, two brothers-in-law Nick Ricciutti, Guy Heather, grandson Grant Reinhold Lundgren and parents Frank and Irene Davis.
She will be missed deeply by everyone who knew and loved her. Funeral services Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Vulcan Church of Christ with Rev. Doug Barrie officiating.

I cannot defend responding so late to this obituary. I was roaming the net looking for family, as I approach my 65th birthday.
Auntie Ila was always a rock within our extended family. A quick wit who did not suffer foolishness, she displayed a warmth and caring that keeps her alive in my memory of those long-ago times.
I miss those times when we travelled from Calgary to “the farm,” or got together to celebrate being a very special family, at Little Bow Park or at High River..
I miss those times and I value having had the joy of knowing Auntie Ila.
