TOLSDORF, Frank John  – 1925-2010

Tolsdorf, Frank John passed away at home in Lomond, Alberta August 17, 2010 at the age of 85 years.

Frank was born on April 8, 1925 at Perry Oklahoma to Henry and Emma Tolsdorf. His family moved to Canada and bought the King farm in the spring of 1928. Frank attended Casmir and Travers schools. When his dad passed away in 1941, Frank became the head of the household. He quit school to help the family run their various enterprises. Frank married Esther in 1953 and settled down to raise a family. They farmed until 1964, sold the land to his brother Sam and moved into Lomond. Frank and Esther divorced in 1966. He tried his hand at operating several business but eventually went back to the farm to help his mother. In 1982 Frank met Betty Norman and together they farmed for ten years. They retired in 1992 and moved into Lomond.

In his retirement years, Frank enjoyed playing chess with his good friend Bill Henderson, assisting Betty in the garden and reading both local and world history. He loved to watch curling and boxing.

Beloved husband of Betty, loving father of three children Karleen (Manuel Rodriguez) Straat, Fred (Jackie), Ken (Donna), two stepchildren Debra (Rich) Paterson, Shayne (Camille Waldo) Norman, twelve grandchildren, four brothers Sam, John (Shirley), Delbert (Pam), Tony (Linda) Haas, four sisters Eleanor (Bob) Allen, Caroline (Brian) McConnell, Jeanette (Ken) Lawler, Maxine (Bill) Sealock and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, stepson Darcy Norman and sister-in-law Vivian.

Funeral Service was held Monday August 23, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lomond with Rev. Gordon Cranch officiating.

Casket bearers were Bill Henderson, Shayne Norman, Ken Tolsdorf, Fred Tolsdorf, Matthew Straat and Nicholas Straat.

Interment Lomond Cemetery.
