TODD, J.A. Brian
1928 – 2009
After a long and rich life, Brian passed away peacefully on October 12, 2009 following a brief illness
J.A. Brian Todd was the youngest son of Robert and Mae Todd, born December 2, 1928 in Vulcan. Brian attended school at Thigh Hill and Vulcan and completed his secondary education at SAIT in 1949-50 where he took a course in building construction and drafting. After completing his courses, he returned to Vulcan to farm with his Dad.
He met Margaret Todd Anderson on October 12, 1953 and they were married November 16, 1955. Brian was active in the community as a member of the Vulcan Lions Club, Vulcan Masonic Lodge, Vulcan Rural Fire Co-op, Chairman of the Vulcan Seed Cleaning Plant and a member of St. Aldhelm’s Anglican Church. Agriculture was a big part of Brian’s life as he farmed for over 60 years. It was well known that he enjoyed his Case tractors but when it came to combines, nothing ran like a Deere. He was able to ride the combine this fall and marveled at how good the crop was.
Brian is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Margaret “Peggy”, four daughters Ann (Vic) Hamza and their daughters Alyssa and Kaitlyn, Una (Chris) Anderson and their daughters Jennifer (Garth) Oldfield and their son Cole, Stephanie (Shilo) McDougald and Melanie, Jo (Byron) Matlock and their sons Eric (Alena Greene) and Aaron (Pamela), Bev Carlson (Kevin Walker) and her children Alana and Brent, long time member of the Todd family Hans Pederson (aka Grandpa Hans), brother Ivan (Gloria) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Brian was predeceased by his parents Robert and Mae, sister Roberta Davis, brother Gregory, infant brother Allan and son-in-law Richard Carlson.
