GROVES, Keith Maxwell
1931 – 2009
Groves, Keith Maxwell passed away peacefully August 22, 2009 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 77 years.
Keith was born September 19, 1931 at Champion, Alberta to Max and Annetta Groves. He attended Yale, Harmony and Champion Schools. Keith started farming as a young man with his father. He attended SAIT for one year and then returned home to farm. In 1957 Keith married Barbara Poffenroth and began their life together on the farm.
Keith played saxophone in a local band. He also played ball with the Champion Baseball Team and was involved in many other parts of the baseball programs. Keith was an avid curler and helped with the building of the curling rink in Champion in 1953.
Beloved husband of Barbara, loving father of three sons Maury, David (Susan), Corey (Melanie), six grandchildren Samantha, Steven, Chloe, Alyssa, Arianna and Shayla, brother Dale (Diane), sister Elaine (Allan) Buchan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Keith is predeceased by his son Richard in 2008 and his parents.
Funeral Service Thursday August 27, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Champion Community Hall with Bruce Smith officiating.
Honorary bearers all Keith’s friends and family.
Casket bearers Jeff Groves, Eric Delude, Chad Perley, Gary Buchan, Murray Strang and Les Groves.
Interment Champion Cemetery.
