ZUEHLKE, Rosslyn ‘Ross’ George 1945 – 2022

January 11, 1945 – December 25, 2022

Early Christmas morning, 2022, a new twinkling Star brightened the sky when Ross Zuehlke passed away after a brief illness.

Rosslyn George Zuehlke was born January 11, 1945 at the Galt Hospital in Lethbridge, Alberta to George and Mabel Zuehlke. He was raised at the family farm East of Warner, AB with his three younger siblings, Corinne (Bruce), Garnette (Monte), and Armand (Bonnie).

Ross was a loving husband, father, Pa (grandfather), great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who graced us with integrity, honesty and unique sense of humour. He will be dearly missed by Shirley, his wife of 56 years, daughters Roslynn (Nick), Robyn and son Russell (Jenn), grandchildren Maddie, Bailey (Shaw), Sierra (Bryce), Brenan and Derek, five great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to count.

He began his career in banking before following his heart to the countryside. Ross and Shirley bought their first farm east of Carmangay, their next farm north of Champion, and in 1987 they settled for good in the Town of Vulcan. He was an active participant in the Vulcan community; the Elks Lodge, associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, twice President of the Vulcan Curling Club, Director Vulcan Golf Club and served on numerous boards. During his 45 years in the County he was a man of many talents; farmer, carpet cleaner, wine maker, printer, water supplier and rural mailman before retiring in 2015.

Ross is now enjoying a rum at the 19th hole after his last round.

The family would like to thank the Vulcan Hospital, Vulcan EMS and South Health Campus for the special care and attention Ross received.

A Celebration of Life in Ross’ memory will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at 2 pm at the Vulcan Curling Rink Lounge.

Tributes in Ross’ memory can be made to the Vulcan County Health & Wellness Foundation, Box 28, Vulcan, AB T0L 2B0 or vchw.foundation@gmail.com.

Arrangements in care of Vulcan Funeral Home. Telephone 1-403-485-2633. condolences through www.vulcanfuneralhome.ca. (We Remember).
