Agnes Angeline Zubach
Agnes passed away peacefully February 3, 2022 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 80 years. Beloved wife of 55+ years, to Nick and loving mother of two daughters Lisa Zubach and Tracy MacDonald, a son Jeff (Robin) Zubach, loving grandmother of Quinn, Ally, Brock, Olivia and Devon.
Agnes was predeceased by her parents, Anton and Rose Dierker, her brothers Richard and Edwin, and her sister Margaret.
Agnes was born in Cudworth, Saskatchewan on October 9, 1941 to Rose and Anton Dierker. Mom spent her childhood on the family farm, near Cudworth. When she was 19 years old, Aggie moved to Lethbridge, Alberta to take Nursing at St. Michael’s hospital. She met many new friends and the man she would spend the rest of her life with.
Agnes and Nick were married July 23, 1966. They lived in many towns in Southern Alberta and Agnes nursed in many of them. Mom and dad moved to Vulcan in 1987. She finished her career at Vulcan Extendicare after 30+ years in the nursing field.
Upon retirement, Agnes took up golfing and quilting with enthusiasm. Aggie found her passion! She was a very talented quilter and many family members were gifted with keepsake quilts. Agnes and Nick spent many hours on the golf course. Being athletic and competitive, she always relished in out-driving Nick!! Her golfing accomplishments included 2 hole-in-ones and a silver medal at the Alberta Senior provincial games in Medicine Hat. Agnes and Nick enjoyed many winter trips to the southern US. Their final trips to Harlingen, Texas were especially memorable and treasured by them both.
Agnes was a loving wife, amazing mom and devoted grammy. Agnes was renowned in the family for her baking of buns – some of our favorite memories are eating “fresh out of the oven” buns. Her laugh, love of life and conversation will be truly missed by all of us who knew and loved her.
A funeral Mass at St. Andrews Catholic Church will be held at a later date with inurnment in Vulcan Cemetery Columbarium.
At the families direction, tributes in Agnes’s memory could be sent to either Vulcan Community Health Centre Palliative Care Unit Box 299, Vulcan T0L 2B0/ etransfer vhcaux@hotmail.com or Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada 205 Horton St. E. Suite 203, London, On N6B 1K7 (www.braintumour.ca).

My heart is hurting for you and your family Nick!
The last few days I’ve been thinking of the good old days when you and Agnes opened your home and your hearts to me. I’m sure you wondered if you were ever going to get rid of me. I think I was meant to stay for a few months and ended up staying two years!
In that time I grew to love Agnes like a sister. What I remember most is sitting around the kitchen table drinking coffee and laughing ourselves silly! My big regret is that we didn’t keep in touch but life took us on very different paths.
Thanks to Lisa for for keeping me informed these past few months.
Love to you all! ❤️
So very sorry for your loss Nick.

Nick, Lisa, Tracy, Jeff & families;
I will cherish all my memories I shared with Agnes over many years… We had some pretty good times for sure. I will always remember her infectious laugh and playing cards, cocktails and talking……wow, could we talk and talk. Never were we at a loss for words. We promised to get together for the last few years and just couldn’t make it happen, I regret not pushing forward in doing that. I know she is in a better place, but my heart still aches along with yours. You are all sad now and will be for a while…. that part will heal in time…. and then the laughter will be back as you remember all the good times that will go on in your hearts forever. Thank You, for keeping me included in Agnes’s battle… she tried her damndest. We will meet again for coffee one day and a good game of cards a couple of cocktails and it will be like we were never apart… Rest Well My Friend… Until We Meet Again. ♥ Love Auntie Debbie
My sincerest condolences to Nick, Agnes’ Family, and all who mourn the loss of Agnes. I did not know Agnes well but always enjoyed visits with her when our paths did cross. I will remember her twinkling eyes, her warm smile, and her infectious laugh.
