The family of Carol Ann Wright of Calgary, are saddened to announce the passing of their mother at the South Calgary Health Campus on December 12, 2018 at the age of 76 years.
Carol was born in Marwayne, AB on January 12, 1942 to George and Beatrice Brooks. She was the middle of 5 children (Earnest, Inez, Shirley and Phyllis). In 1947 the family moved off the farm into Lloydminster. Here Carol spent the rest of her childhood. She graduated from High School in 1960. Carol then attended Northwest Baptist College in Vancouver B.C. graduating in 1963. After her time in Vancouver, Carol attended the Saskatoon Teacher’s College. In August 1967 Carol and Herb Manson were married. Over the next few years they lived in Inuvik, NWT and Whitehorse, Yukon where Carol taught school and Herb worked as an aircraft mechanic. Vaughn was born June 30th, 1971. In 1973 the family moved to Calgary and put down roots. Carol was busy raising her son, was very involved in her church and taught school. Herb passed away in 1990. By this time Carol had been working for several different oil companies. .
Carol married Patrick Wright in September 2001. They enjoyed 15 years together before his passing in May 2015. Carol found much joy in spending time with her four grandchildren, Clayton (Clarissa), Shauna, Alana and Jaylene. Her son Vaughn went to be with the Lord December 16, 2013.
In the last few years Carol was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and spent the last year in a care facility. Although she struggled with her memory the verses she had learned as a child stayed with her to the end and she found much comfort in scripture. She was a faithful mom and friend and will be missed by many.
Interment in Arrowwood Cemetery on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 10 am then Memorial Service at First Alliance Church (12345 – 40 St. SE, Calgary, AB) at 2 pm.
