WHITE, WINDFIELD BRUCE PASSED AWAY AT THE HIGH RIVER HOSPITAL AND NURSING HOME ON NOVEMBER l5, 1990 AT THE AGE OF 82 YEARS.

LOVING FATHER OF TWO SONS TERRY AND HIS WIFE SHIRLEY OF VULCAN AND DAN AND HIS WIFE FRANCES OF REGINA, SIX GRANDCHILDREN – WENDY, CINDY, MICHAEL (TERESA), DEBBY (ED) DUNBAR, LOREN (SANDY) AND SANDY (DAVID) BAILEY AND TWELVE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.

BRUCE WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS WIFE PAULINE IN 1986, HIS FATHER MILTON DANIEL WHITE AND HIS MOTHER HILDA PEARL BROTEN AND HIS BROTHER MORGAN.

BRUCE WAS BORN AT GRAND FORKS, BRITISH COLUMBIA ON SEPTEMBER 4, 1908. HIS FATHER WAS A JEWELLER, ONE OF TEN MEN WHO MADE CANADIAN FINE WATCHES. HIS MOTHER WAS A VERY TALENTED CONCERT PIANIST. BRUCE HAD ONE BROTHER MORGAN WHO WORKED FOR UNIVERSAL STUDIOS IN HOLLYWOOD CALIFORNIA, IN FACT WHILE BRUCE LIVED WITH HIS BROTHER FOR A SHORT TIME HE ACTED IN SOME FILMS.

BRUCE GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE IN VICTORIA, B.C. AFTER TAKING A COURSE IN AGRICULTURE. THIS WAS DURING THE DEPRESSION AND BRUCE WAS FORTUNATE TO GET A JOB DRIVING FOR VANCOUVER ISLAND COACH LINES. HE MET PAULINE LUCAS AND THEY WERE MARRIED IN 1931. BRUCE ENJOYED MARKSMANSHIP AND HAD THE HONOR OF BEING THE DOMINION SHARPSHOOTER CHAMPION OF 1936. WHEN WORLD WAR TWO BROKE OUT HE ENLISTED AND BECAME A BOMBADEER INSTRUCTOR, COMPLETING ACTIVE SERVICE IN THE QUEEN CHARLOTTE ISLAND’S. HE RETURNED TO VANCOUVER ISLAND AND HIS YOUNG FAMILY. HE CONTINUED TO DRIVE BUS, EVENTUALLY BECOMING OFFICE MANAGER AT PORT ALBERNI, B.C. IN 1949 THE FAMILY MOVED TO FARM EAST OF VULCAN, THE LAND WHERE HIS GRANDSON MICHAEL AND HIS FAMILY NOW LIVE. FOR THE PAST FOURTEEN YEARS, BRUCE HAS BEEN IN A NURSING HOME, FIRST IN EDMONTON THEN AT HIGH RIVER WHERE HE WAS AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH.

BRUCE WAS A PAST MEMBER OF THE ROTARY CLUB IN B.C., THE VULCAN LIONS CLUB AND THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION BRANCH 121 VULCAN.

FUNERAL SERVICES MONDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 1990 AT VULCAN UNITED CHURCH AT 11 A.M. WITH REV. BEVERLY HILL AND MRS. SHIRLEY COLLARD D.M. OFFICIATING.
INTERMENT VULCAN CEMETERY.
