WELSH, John David1929 – 2012

John David Welsh Feb. 17, 1929 – Jan. 3, 2012

John Welsh formerly of Turin, Alberta passed away peacefully at Vulcan Health Centre at the age of 82 years with his family at his side.

John was born on the family farm near Keho Lake and farmed in the Newlands area and later moved to the farm at Turin. John enjoyed hunting, camping, travelling and times with friends and family. He enjoyed many winters in Yuma, Arizona and times at Moyie Lake, B.C. John especially enjoyed having fun with his grandchildren.

John is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Margaret, their children Jim (Cindy), Ken (Sherry), Carol (Brad) Paterson, Laurie (Shane) Mehlhaff and Melvin, 11 grandchildren, 2 great- grandchildren, a sister Gerry (Floyd) Domier, a brother Larry (Sharlene) Welsh, numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Gathering will be held 12:00 – 4 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2012, at the Royal Canadian Legion, Hall, Vulcan.

In lieu of flowers, tributes in John’s memory can be made to Vulcan Community Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit Box 299, Vulcan T0L 2B0

    We were saddened to learn of your loss with the passing of your husband and father. It has been a few years now but I enjoyed many visits with Marg and Cindy. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

    Sorry about your loss. I will always remember Johns big booming voice, and his stories when I was young.

    We want to send our condolances to the family. Its going to be a big loss i’m sure. John was always such a good friend & neighbour to my parents. I remember fondly his big laugh and great humour. I’m so sorry for your loss. Joe & Marlene Kovacs

    It was a honor to have met John and Marg while visiting Charles and Myrna in Yuma.It was always a hilight of each visit to share good times filled with John,s stories turning into laughter for all.We will always remember John,s smiling face and are grateful to have been part of the good times enjoyed in the sunny south.

    I’m so sorry for your loss. When I think of Johnny memories of our travels together,(Disney land and Cuba) come to mind. His cantagious laugh and fun spirit will be remembered by all.
