ROSEMARY WASHBURN, OF VULCAN, ALBERTA FORMERLY OF THE MOSSLEIGH AREA, PASSED AWAY APRIL 9, 1997 AT THE AGE OF 82 YEARS.
ROSEMARY WAS BORN MAY 24, I914 AT WASHINGTON, INDIANA TO EDWARD AND PEARLE REDFORD (nee: HORRALL). SHE ATTENDED SCHOOL IN WASHINGTON, INDIANA, SPOKANE, WASHINGTON AND LATER ATTENDED THE CHENEY NORMAL SCHOOL TO BECOME AN EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL TEACHER. SHE ALSO WORKED AS A HAIRDRESSER AND FOR A SHORT TIME AS CARETAKER.
ON AUGUST 6, I940 SHE MARRIED HARRY THOMPSON WASHBURN AT CARSELAND, ALBERTA. TOGETHER THEY FARMED SOUTH OF MOSSLEIGH ON THE LAND WHICH HIS FATHER FARMED, WHERE HER DAUGHTER LOIS AND HERB NOW RESIDE. IN I990 ROSEMARY AND HARRY MOVED TO THE WHEAT COUNTRY HOMES THEN MOVED TO EXTENDICARE IN 1994 WHERE THEY HAVE RESIDED SINCE. OVER THE YEARS THEY WERE BLESSED WITH MANY GOOD FRIENDS AND NEIGHBOURS INCLUDING CLARK CHRISTIE AND ARTHUR THARLE.
ROSEMARY WAS A MEMBER OF THE UNITED CHURCH WOMEN AT MOSSLEIGH. OVER THE YEARS THEY HAVE RESIDED IN VULCAN AND THEY ATTENDED THE VULCAN UNITED CHURCH . ROSEMARY AND HARRY WERE MEMBERS OF THE WHEATLAND WHIRLERS SQUARE DANCE CLUB IN STRATHMORE, AND ENJOYED SQUARE DANCING IN MANY LOCATIONS IN CANADA AND THE UNITED STATES. IN 1984 THEY WERE AWARDED A TROPHY FROM A DANCE COMPETITION AND THEY ATTENDED THE FIRST NATIONAL SQUARE DANCE CONVENTION IN 1987 IN EDMONTON.
ROSEMARY LOVED HER FAMILY AND ENJOYED TRAVELLING TO MANY PLACES INCLUDING HAWAII.
ROSEMARY LEAVES BEHIND HER LOVING HUSBAND HARRY OF VULCAN, A DAUGHTER LOIS (HERB) HIRST OF MOSSLEIGH, A SON PHILIP (DIANE) OF NEWMARKET, ONTARIO, FIVE GRANDCHILDREN PEARLE, MISTY, NANETTE, SUSAN AND SEAN, ELEVEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, A BROTHER EDWARD (GLADYS) REDFORD OF MEDFORD, OREGON, A SISTER-IN-LAW LORETTA REDFORD OF AQUA DOLCE, CALIFORNIA, TWO NIECES BARBARA RANES AND SUSAN REDFORD BOTH OF CALIFORNIA.
ROSEMARY WAS PREDECEASED BY A BROTHER PHILLIP IN 1994 AND HER PARENTS.
FUNERAL SERVICE SATURDAY APRIL 12, I997 AT 2 P.M. AT VULCAN UNITED CHURCH WITH REV. DON WATT OFFICIATING.
INTERMENT TO FOLLOW AT VULCAN CEMETERY.
