Vincent, Evelyn formerly of Carmangay, Alberta passed away April 6, 2002 at Vulcan Extendicare at the age of 96 years.
Evelyn was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba November 11, 1905 to Fredrick and Claribel Fox. In 1907 they moved to Isles of Pines in the West Indies, moving to the homestead near Kelliher, Saskatchewan in 1909. In 1917 they moved to Pontiac, Michigan the following year returned to the homestead, sold it and moved to Los Angeles, California in 1918, where Evelyn completed her schooling. She began working in a milliner shop making hats. During this time she attended a friends wedding and met Charles Vincent, they were married New Years day 1925 and were together for sixty-seven years. The moved to Pomona, California where their son Charles was born. In 1930 they moved back to London, Ontario where their daughter Roberta was born. The family returned to California in 1937. Evelyn moved with her husband and daughter to Penticton, B.C. in 1946. Both Charles and Evelyn worked in the fruit packing industry in California and B.C. They returned to southern California in 1957 and returned to B.C. in 1987. Charles passed away in 1992 and in 1998 Evelyn moved to Carmangay then to Extendicare in 2001 where she has resided since.
Evelyn enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, music and in her younger years, dancing.
Beloved mother of a son Charles (Mary) of Carmangay, daughter Roberta (Herbert) Phipps of Knoxville, Tennessee, nine grandchildren Patti (Tad) McBride of Tucson, Arizona, Steven (Cindy) Vincent of Fort St. John, Kathy (Todd) Vincent and Karolyn Vincent all of Fort St. John, Debroah (Mike) Daugherty of Walnut Creek, California, Sherry (Steve) Scarpulla and Linda Phipps all of Martinez, California, David Phipps of Los Angeles, California and Robert Phipps of Knoxville, Tennessee, twenty great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren.
Evelyn was predeceased by her parents and her husband Charles in 1992.
Funeral Service Thursday April 11, 2002 at the Evangelical Free Church, Champion at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Albert Luesink officiating.
Casket Bearers Charles Vincent, Herb Phipps, Art Robins, Tad McBride, Ken Phipps and David Phipps.
Interment Monday April 15, 2002 at 2 P.M. at Lake View Cemetery, Penticton, British Columbia.
