MARCEL VAUTOUR PASSED AWAY SUDDENLY AT HIS HOME AT THE PETER DAWSON LODGE, VULCAN ON JANUARY 4, 1996 AT THE AGE OF 84 YEARS.
MARCEL WAS BORN MAY 20, 1911 AT ST. LOUIS, NEW BRUNSWICK WERE HE ATTENDED SCHOOL. UPON FINISHING PUBLIC SCHOOL HE WORKED IN THE WOODS AS A LUMBERJACK IN NOVA SCOTIA FOR MANY YEARS. LATER HE WORKED BUILDING BRIDGES FOR THE GOVERNMENT. HE CAME TO LIVE AT RED DEER WHERE HE MARRIED AND HAD A FAMILY AND LATER DIVORCED. WHILE IN RED DEER HE WORKED AS A BRICKLAYER, PLASTERER AND OTHER JOBS IN CONSTRUCTION UNTIL RETIRING IN 1976. HE TRAVELLED QUITE A BIT, LIVING IN B.C., RED DEER, CALGARY THEN CAME TO VULCAN IN ABOUT 1985 HE STAYED AT THE, MRS. AGNES LOOSE RESIDENCE ON CENTRE STREET, UNTIL HE MOVED INTO THE PETER DAWSON LODGE IN 1990 AND HAS RESIDED THERE SINCE.
MARCEL WAS A VERY GIVING PERSON WHO PLACED A HIGH VALUE ON FRIENDSHIPS, WAS A VERY HONEST, RELIGIOUS, HARD WORKING PERSON WHO WOULD GIVE AWAY GIFTS HE RECEIVED, TO MAKE THINGS BETTER FOR HIS FRIENDS AND WOULD ALWAYS LET YOU KNOW IF SOMETHING WAS BOTHERING HIM.
MARCEL IS SURVIVED BY A DAUGHTER DOREEN LAWSON OF MONCTON, N.B., FOUR SONS JOHN OF SURREY, ROD (ROSE) OF RICHMOND, FRANK TAYLOR AND ROBIN TAYLOR BOTH OF EDMONTON, FOURTEEN GRANDCHILDREN AND NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.
MARCEL WAS PREDECEASED BY A DAUGHTER MAXINE, FOUR BROTHERS, A SISTER AND HIS PARENTS ANGUS AND FRANCIS VAUTOUR.
FUNERAL MASS AT ST. ANDREWS CATHOLIC CHURCH, VULCAN MONDAY, JANUARY 8, 1996 AT 11 A.M. WITH FATHER STAN LASKO SDS. CELEBRANT.
INTERMENT VULCAN CEMETERY.
