Tallent, Barbara Wilhelmina, of Vulcan, passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre, surrounded by her family on November 9, 2014 at the age of 71 years.
Barb, as she was known to her friends, was born February 14, 1943 and raised in Coldstream, Middlesex County, Ontario with her four siblings.
Barb first came west in 1980. After several moves to various places, both east and west, Barb returned to Vulcan in 2006 and often said, “I love it here and this is where I am staying.” She had many very good friends here and enjoyed shopping and lunch days at least once a month. Barb was a member of the St. Aldhelm’s Anglican Church, the Red Hatters (now known as the Crown Jewels) and the Vulcan Seniors Centre. Having spent a year as 2nd Vice President of the Senior Centre, Barb opted to take on the Treasurer position last year, which she has excelled at.
Barb was so happy and excited that she had been able to celebrate Thanksgiving with her family.
Barbara is survived by her sons Daniel (Jennifer) and Derek (Nichole) Tallent of Calgary, four grandchildren Amanda, Cory, Brittany and Preston, one great granddaughter Isabelle, her mother Betty Hamacher, brother Norm (Brenda) Hamacher, sisters Rene (Keith) Locking and Mary (Stan) McKeen, all of Ontario and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Phil Hamacher, husband Ian Tallent and a brother Scott Hamacher.
Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 14, 2014 at 1:30 pm at St. Aldhelm’s Anglican Church, Rev. Gordon Cranch officiating. Inurnment to take place at a later date in London, Ontario.
Tributes in Barbara’s memory can be made to the Peter Dawson Lodge Memorial Fund, Box 750, Vulcan, AB T0L 2B0.

Hi Preston.
My name is John Tallent and I live in Ipswich Suffolk England . I am pretty certain that we are related somehow . I have just had my dad die very recently ( Eric Tallent ) and have read his 1979 diary and I think it maybe your grandmother’s address in there . My brother Philip is the one keen on family trees , but I just remember that I think your nan came to England as I have a few photos here . Not sure if they will let me give my email , but I will put it on anyway. johnnyt1tractorboy@gmail.com
