Reinhold Graff, of Vulcan, Alberta passed away November 27, 2002 at Vulcan Extendicare at the age of 89 years.
Reinhold was born October 12, 1913, at Westerham, Saskatchewan, one of twelve children born to Ludwig and Maria Graff. He attended school at Westerham until grade four and then helped his father on the family farm. Reinhold began working the land when he was just seven years old, driving four horses and a gang-plow. As a young man in 1936, he purchased his own farm near Estuary, Saskatchewan, and in 1940 moved to Meadowlake, Saskatchewan, where he established a mixed farming operation.
BRINTON, Lillian May 1916 – 2002
Lillian May Brinton of Vulcan passed away November 19, 2002, at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 86 years.
Lillian was born August 20, 1916 at Cayley, Alberta to Robert and Phoebe Houlden. She received her schooling at the Cayley School. On October 18, 1935 she married Wentworth Brinton in High River. In 1939 they moved to Kirkaldy. She was involved in the community and at one time played the piano and drums in a local band. In 1955 Wentworth passed away and Lillian moved her family to Vulcan. Elizabeth Anna Wilson, (nee: Dingwall) passed away suddenly Sunday November 17, 2002 at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital at the age of 93 years.
Elizabeth was born April 10, 1909 at Vulcan, Alberta to Robert and Tressia Dingwall. She attended Richmond Hill School and Henderson’s College for one year. Elizabeth worked at the High River Hospital for many years. She worked in the laundry department first and then as a cook. Jeremy Christopher Morse of Vulcan, Alberta passed away at home on November 11, 2002 at the age of 47 years.
Jeremy was born October 25, 1955 at Westchester, Pennsylvania to Tom and Laure Morse. He moved with his parents to Montreal where he attended Lower Canada College. He completed University with a degree in economics at the University of Western Ontario. Lonnie Lorraine Olive Newman, of Champion, Alberta passed away suddenly 10 kilometers south of Vulcan on Highway 23 on November 1, 2002 at the age of 52 years.
Lonnie was born June 18, 1950 at Brockville, Ontario to John and Cyrilla Newman. She attended many schools and finished her schooling in Kingston, Ontario. Lonnie married Mark Foley and from their union a son was born. Soon after she divorced and moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1977 to work as a legal assistant for a few years. David Oscar Sletto, formerly of Champion, Alberta passed away October 7, 2002 in Lethbridge, Alberta at the age of 43 years.
David was born December 5, 1958 in Vulcan, Alberta to Clayton and Elizabeth Sletto. He attended school at Champion for grades one through nine and completed his high schooling in Vulcan. Russell was born January 6, 1912 at Carmangay, Alberta to Delmar and Lillian Hegland. He attended Plain Field School and worked with his father of the family farm. Hugh “Sonny” Leslie formerly of Mossleigh passed away August 12, 2002 at Vulcan Extendicare at the age of 86 years.
Sonny was born September 26, 1915 at Mossleigh, Alberta the youngest son of Hugh and Lilias Leslie. He attended Antrim school until quitting and began working on a tractor at Mossleigh, which was his life fulfillment.
