Nelson Macauley Jamison passed away peacefully March 22, 2006 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre long-term care unit at the age of 90 years.
Nelson was born November 1, 1915 at Tekoa, Washington to Robert and Sara Jamison. The family moved to a farm near Vulcan in March of 1917. Nelson attended Harvey School in 1921 and moved to the Town of Vulcan in 1924 to continue his schooling in Vulcan schools. The family would move back to the farm in the growing season. In 1942 he married Ruby Collier took over the Jamison farm north of Vulcan.
MATLOCK, Wilbur Clarence 1917 – 2006
Wilbur Clarence Matlock formerly of Champion, Alberta passed away March 20, 2006 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 88 years.
Wilbur was born July 27, 1917 at Carmangay, Alberta to Harold and Ada Matlock and was raised on the family farm East of Champion. He attended Harmony School and completed high school in Champion. Wilbur continued to work with his father on the farm and eventually took over all the farming operations. Wilbur married Betty (Christman) in 1944. Retiring from full time farming in 1981, they moved to Champion and in 2004 to the Peter Dawson Lodge
SCHIN, Johanna “Hanni” 1918 – 2006
Johanna “Hanni” Schin passed away at Vulcan Community Health Centre February 15, 2006 at the age of 87 years.
Beloved mother of two daughters Elfriede (Jim) Hall of Little Bow Resort and Gerda (Erwin) Polster of Munich, Germany, two grandchildren James Defant and Stacey Defant both of Calgary, a step sister Frieda Karabacek of Stuttgart, Germany.
Hanni was predeceased by her mother Maria, father Johann Mopik and her step mother.
A private family gathering at Vulcan Cemetery Columbarium will be held Tuesday February 21, 2006.

Lois May Deitz of Milo, Alberta passed away surrounded by her family February 10, 2006 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 72 years.
Lois was born May 4, 1933 at High River, Alberta to Edgar and Evelyn Kennedy. She attended school at High River, Blackie, Manyberries, Aldersyde and Brant as well as normal school in Calgary. Lois returned to reside at Ensign and taught school at Ensign, Brant, Milo, where she met Bill Deitz. She went on to teach in Banff and later returned to Milo. JONES, Anna Leona 1928 – 2006
Anna Leona Jones of Lomond, Alberta passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2006.
Leona was born on June 21, 1928 at Arrowwood, Alberta to Glenn and Leona Field. She attended school at Midway, northeast of Lomond, and Carseland. Leona moved to Calgary in 1945 to take secretarial courses. She started her first job at a wholesale drug store. Leona married Marwood “Smokie” Jones in 1947. They lived in Milo until 1959 when they moved to the farm in Lomond, where she raised chickens and sold eggs. Leona managed the Grainland Hardware store for many years. She loved to dance
SANDE, Merle Alvern 1925 – 2006
Merle Alvern Sande of Vulcan, Alberta passed away January 18, 2006 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 80 years.
Merle was born May 22, 1925 at Lomond, Alberta to Olaf and Lulu Sande. He attended Green Prairie, Lomond and Armada Schools. Merle farmed with his father and later bought the farm. In 1966 he married Ruth Chapman and she passed away in 1971. Merle married Gerry Snow in 1974 and they lived in Lomond until selling the farm and moving to Vulcan in 1984.
Merle was active in his community as a charter member of the Lomond Lions Club.
ROEBUCK, John Marshall 1916 – 2006
John Marshall Roebuck, beloved husband of Betty of 61 years of Champion, Alberta passed away January 14, 2006 at Vulcan Community Health Center after a brief illness at the age of 89 years.
John was born April 27, 1916 on the homestead five minutes north of Champion to Theodore and Sarah Roebuck. He lived his entire life in this area. Farming was his way of life and at the age of 9 John was plowing fields with a team of four horses and up until last year he was involved in harvest every season by operating the combine.
LEONI, Arturo John “Art” 1918 – 2006
Arturo John “Art” Leoni of Vulcan , Alberta passed away suddenly at his home January 11, 2006 at the age of 87 years.
Art was the owner and operator of the Vulcan Food Market on main street in Vulcan since it’s beginning in 1968 until his passing.

Georgina Mae “Gene” Dueck passed away January 9, 2006 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 69 years.
Gene was born on May 22, 1936 at Hamilton, Ontario to George and Lillian Jones. She was one of four children. Her parents separated when she was eight and Gene moved with her father to Manitoba to live with an uncle. Gene attended a Catholic Convent school in Manitoba. Lillian Mae “Lil” (Hughes) Kary of Calgary passed away suddenly January 1, 2006 at Calgary Foothills Hospital at the age of 70 years.
Lil was born July10, 1935 at Lomond, Alberta to Earl and Alberta Armstrong. She attended Lomond School and at an early age married Roy Hostetler in 1954. They continued to reside in Lomond and raise their three children, Bruce, Arlie and Debra, until his passing in 1965.
