Jean Vera (Rowe) Chase passed away peacefully with her family present on September 30, 2006 at the Vulcan Community Health Center at the age of 87 years.
Jean was born at Woodstock, New Brunswick on April 26, 1919 and was the eldest daughter of William and Vera Rowe. In July 1935 she married Leonard Chase of Woodstock, NB and they had three daughters and two sons.
Jean was a member of the Goodwill Service Club and Home and School Association. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and was the assistant postmistress at Lomond for several

It is with love and deep sorrow that the family announce the passing of Elsie Earl at the George Boyack Care Centre in Calgary. Elsie was born in Gleichen, Alberta and raised in the Buffalo Hills area. She was the second daughter of Frank and Mary McInenly and grew up on their homestead on Arrowwood Creek. Doreen Elizabeth (Bell) Hart passed away peacefully on September 14, 2006 at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital in the presence of her husband Oliver and several family members at the age of 71 years.
Doreen was born in a log cabin on February 23, 1935 near Nampa, Alberta. She was the first of four daughters and grew up in Bow City where she met and married Oliver Hart. They moved to Lomond in 1954 where they started Hart Transport and operated the UFA bulk station for several years. They moved onto their farm in 1970 and have resided there ever since.

Peter Paul Degenstein passed away at Calgary, surrounded by his family, on September 7, 2006 at the age of 78 years.
Loving husband to June, dad to Brenda (Steve) Schlaht of Lomond, Dave (Lisa) Degenstein of Coutts, Karen Degenstein (Ron Spankovich) of Ajax, Ontario and Deb Degenstein (Kevin Rasmussen) of Calgary. Adored as “Papa Pete” to grandkids Karissa Schlaht and Steve Wong, Sherise and Jayden Schlaht, Devan, Garrett, Braydn and Carson Degenstein, and Alycia and Rachelle Degenstein. He is also survived by nine brothers and sisters.

Bateman, George Walter of Vulcan, Alberta passed away August 27, 2006 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 86 years.
George is survived by a sister Lola Findlay of Vulcan, two sisters-in-law Margery Puzey of Brooks and Elaine Bateman of Vulcan, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four brothers Leon, Clifford (Irene), Delbert (Melvina), Glenn, sister May (Edwin) Nelson, brother-in-law Lundy Findlay.
Funeral service Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Champion with Bishop Ted Findlay officiating.

Loving mother of a daughter Helena Nixdorf of Carmangay, a son Edward (Esther) of Barrie, Ontario, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two sisters-in-law Jean and Rose Buchko both of Arborg, Manitoba.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Walter, son-in-law Walter Nixdorf, five brothers and her parents.

Berendina “Dene” Marks of Milo, Alberta passed away July 27, 2006 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 81 years.
Dene was born July 10, 1925 at Rheden, Holland to Willem and Aaltje Grootherder. She was the youngest of six children. Dene met Fred Marks during the war in Holland and they married in 1946. After the war, in July 1947, she came to Canada with her two and half year old daughter Dene and seven month old son Freddie to join her husband on the farm in Milo. Dene could only speak
