URZADA, Irene Lorraine 1940 – 2014
Today (September 17th, 2014) they rolled back the carpets in heaven. Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend Irene (born October 4th, 1940) put on her dancing shoes one last time to join her husband Leonard and lead him through their dance in eternity.
Irene was born and raised in the Finnish community near Whitewood, Saskatchewan, with her sisters Nina, and Eunice, and a brother Jack. She married Leonard Urzada on July 16 1958 and thus began a 50 year legacy of love.
Irene and Leonard moved to Calgary in 1959 where they raised 4 children and became an integral part
WIERSMA, Simon Gerben “Slick” 1920 – 2014
Wiersma, Simon Gerben “Slick”, of Vulcan, passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Extendicare on August 5, 2014 at the age of 94 years.
Simon was born in Brant, AB on August 1, 1920 to Peter and Kathyrn Wiersma. He was the second born out of seven children. Simon enlisted in the Army for a brief time but did not pass the medical. He worked for many farmers in the area as well as with Nettie and Mildred Ware.

SEAMAN-ANDREWS, Adeline Mabel 1918 – 2014
Seaman- Andrews, Adeline Mabel of Vulcan, passed away at Vulcan Extendicare August 1, 2014 at the age of 96 years.
Adeline was born July 7, 1918 in Vulcan to George and Mabel Armstrong and along with younger brother George (Buster) lived on a homestead west of Lake McGregor. Adeline’s mother passed away when she was four and Buster was two and a half, leaving their father to raise two small children. During Adeline’s teen years, she cared for her brother and her father after he had contracted Rheumatic Fever and suffered heart damage. Despite the hardships, their life was quite happy
VERSLUYS, Donald “Don” Harry 1934 – 2014
Donald (Don) Harry Versluys passed away July 3, 2014 at the Vulcan Hospital at the age of 80 years. Don was born April 26, 1934 in Vulcan, Alberta to parents Cornie and Rhea Versluys.
Don lived in Falun, Alberta until 1941 when Cornie enlisted in the Army and the family moved to Champion to stay with Rhea’s family. Don attended school in Champion and Vulcan. Don was active with school sports and then joined the Champion Platoon of the Calgary Highlanders Reserve Army. In 1952 Don went to Olds College for two years taking Agriculture. When

Ferguson, Lyle George, of Champion, beloved husband of Barbara, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at the Vulcan Community Health Centre July 2, 2014 at the age of 68 years.
Besides his loving wife Barbara, Lyle is survived by his sons Darren (Jean Anne) and Garett (Carlie) Ferguson, 11 grandchildren, 2 step-daughters Kerri (Ron) and Kristen (Daymen), a stepson Danny (Jessie), sister Norma (Len) Lutz and numerous nieces and nephews. Reid, Ken, of Vulcan, passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on June 26, 2014 at the age of 76 years, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Ken is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ferne and two sons, Ward (Sandra) of Foremost and Gord (Belinda) of High River. He is also survived by two brothers Don (Joyce) and Jim (Jo), his wife’s family, Carol (Don) Hale, Betty Carlson and Rick (Wanda) Carlson. He was predeceased by his parents Ernie and Elsie Reid, brother Gord and in-laws Carl and Kay Carlson and brother-in-law Dennis Carlson.

Clement, Philip Edward, of Vulcan, passed away suddenly near Vulcan on June 25, 2014 at the age of 53 years.
Phil was born in Prince George, B.C. on November 1, 1960 and was raised in Calgary. He was very passionate about motorcycles and most recently, photography, adding some amazing photos to his collection. Phil was also passionate about his family and was a devoted husband and father. He was very pleased to be able to raise his family with Connie in the Vulcan area over the past 14 years.

Davey, Richard Wayne of Champion, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the age of 74 years.
Wayne was born on October 17, 1939 in Claresholm. He moved to Champion in 1945 where he went to school from grades 1 – 12. He married Jean Ellen Schneider in June 1959. They moved their home to the Davey homestead in 1964, where he and Jean lived and farmed until his untimely death.

HYSLIP, Erin Leanne 1993 – 2014
Hyslip, Erin Leanne, of Vulcan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at Vulcan Community Health Centre on June 18, 2014 at the age of 20 years.
Erin was born in Vulcan to Noel and Deb Hyslip in 1993. She attended Hazel Cameron Elementary and County Central High School, graduating Grade 12 in 2011. Erin was currently enrolled in her second year of Business Management at the University of Lethbridge when diagnosed with Osteosarcoma.
Erin was a “Small Town” girl who relished the country life and the ethics and lifestyle that entailed. Always gentle and kind, personable and loved by all that had
