Barr, Stella Louise passed away peacefully January 6, 2009 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 94 years.
Louise was born on the family farm at Majorville, Alberta on December 3, 1914, the second daughter of eight children, to Fred and Tillie Bertschy. She attended four schools through the years: Rocky Butte, East Majorville, Liberty and finally Robertson school which opened in 1928. Louise would go to the Robertson School early as she was the janitor and responsible for starting the wood stove to warm the school house. Smith, Douglas Burton passed away January 6, 2009 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 88 years.
Doug was born at Vulcan on September 14, 1920 to Donald and Hazel Smith. He spent his early years in Washington State where his dad had a garage. The family moved back to the Reid Hill District in time for Doug to start grade one. He attended Marshall School until Grade 9 and Vulcan High School to Grade 12. Quick, Odelia “Tillie” passed away January 5, 2009 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 86 years.
Tillie was born December 24, 1922 at Fox Valley, Saskatchewan to Leon and Victoria Buye. She attended school at Fox Valley until Grade 11. Tillie then moved to Barons at the age of 16. When she was 18 she moved to Medicine Hat. Tillie met Wes Quick at the age of 20 and they were married in 1943 at Vernon BC. They moved to Kelowna then to Wetaskwin. Christiansen, Phillip Kent passed away January 3, 2009 at Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary at the age of 52 years.
Philip is survived by his father Svend and a brother Gordon.
He was predeceased by his mother Grete in 2004.
A service was held at a later date.

Lillian “Lil” Peterson formerly of Milo has lived the past 13 years at the Peter Dawson Lodge until her passing December 30, 2008 at the tender age of 97. Family and friends who have been fortunate enough to have her as part of our lives will miss her dearly.

Volesky, Marvin Earle passed away peacefully December 24, 2008 at Brooks Auxiliary Hospital the age of 83 years.
Marvin was born December 31, 1924 to Anton (Don) & Alice Volesky on the family farm east of Lomond. He attended school at Midway (just east of his farm) and after it closed in 1939, he along with his brother Verne attended school in Lomond. Marvin served in the Royal Canadian Artillery from March 1944 until August 1946 and was stationed in Halifax. After being discharged, he bought the T.J. Armstrong farm where his brother Verne and his family lived for sixteen years.

Stephenson, William Edward “Scotty” passed away suddenly in a tragic accident December 20, 2008 at the age of 65 years.
Scotty was born September 23, 1943 at Northumberland, England to George and Bertha Stephenson. He received all his education in England. After he graduated, Scotty worked on a sheep farm in England. He immigrated to Canada on September 27, 1983 and worked with his brother George in Calgary as a sheep farm laborer. Lahd, Jerry Grant, formerly of Milo, passed away suddenly due to complications from a long-standing heart condition on December 15, 2008 at Red Deer at the age of 47 years.
Jerry was born August 27, 1961 at Vulcan Alberta to Grant and Betty Lahd. He was raised in both Queenstown and Milo. Jerry attended school in Milo and County Central High School at Vulcan. Crabb, Emelia Juanita, beloved wife of the late Bruce Crabb, passed away December 10, 2008 at Little Bow Auxiliary Hospital at Carmangay at the age of 95 years.
