Wilma Flitton, devoted mother and wife, spunky grandmother and inspiring aunt and friend, passed away peacefully at Vulcan Community Health Centre Long Term Care on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the age of 93 years. She was born on December 12, 1916 in Archie Missouri to Mabel and William Ohler. Along with older siblings, Irene and Ivan, Wilma spent her childhood working on the family farm and going to the one-room Prairieville School. She received her grade 12 diploma by correspondence while working in Carmangay.

Harris, Charles Ross or “Chuck” as he was known by his friends, passed away March 19, 2010, at Calgary, Alberta at the age of 74 years.
Chuck was Born in Burford TWP, Ont, He served his country in the Canadian Armed Forces as well as the Royal Canadian Navy stationed out of Cornwallis. He moved to Alberta in 1963, Chuck made himself a career working for the City of Calgary Parks and Recreation division until his retirement.

Bill passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Hospital at the spry age of 85 years of age. Bill was born in High River on April 11, 1925. Bill worked with his siblings on the family dairy farm just outside of High River until 1950, started with Farm Electric in 1950, married the love of his life Jean on April 11, 1953 (beginning their life-long venture together), joined Calgary Power (Transalta) in 1955, living in a trailer for a few years, Gleichen until 1981 then Vulcan where he finished his career retiring in 1984.

Lorraine Dyer Povey passed away on August 12, 2010 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 74 years.
Lorraine was born to Reginald and Arlie Dyer on May 21, 1936 in a sod hut on Uncle Bert’s land near Carlyle, Sask. She was raised on a dairy farm and attended school in Carlyle. Lorraine married Don Povey on October 10, 1953 in Dalesboro, Sask. The two farmed in Oxbow, Sask. for a short period, before Don became an elevator agent. Prentice, Kenneth George “Ken”(a.k.a. Sid) passed away suddenly August 24, 2009 at Milo at the age of 46 years.
Ken was born at Bassano, Alberta on April 9, 1963 to Jim and Brenda Prentice. He attended Milo School and County Central High School at Vulcan. Ken obtained his mechanics licence in 1985 and co-managed the Milo Garage as well as helping his dad farm. He also worked on the pipeline for many years. Granlin, Lea Marie, beloved wife of the late Elwood Granlin, passed away January 3, 2010 at Vulcan, Alberta at the age of 90 years.
Marie Granlin was born August 11, 1919 at Champion, Alberta to Harold and Ada Matlock. She attended school in Champion and Normal School in Calgary. Marie taught for two years at Sanderson School and five years at Carmangay School. She moved to Calgary to work as a secretary and then moved to Seattle, Washington. Clara was born July 5, 1912 at Queenstown, Alberta to Margaret and Aleck Johnson. Nelson, She passed away March 31, 2010 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 97 years. Clara took all her schooling at Queenstown and in 1930, married Nels Nelson, where they raised their five children. She loved to knit and crochet, many gifts her family now enjoy. Family meant the world to Clara and she really enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a life time member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Milo.

Moses, Helen passed away June 29, 2010 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 92 years.
Helen was born February 22, 1918 at Manyberries, Alberta to William and Cecylia Dutka. She moved to Champion in 1948 to marry George Moses. With her husband, Helen bought Champion Sundries in 1949 and that store continued to be a well-known fixture on Champion’s main street for the next 30 years. Wickstrom, Betty passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on November 12, 2009 at the age of 81 years.
Betty was born in Calgary on May 26, 1928, the only daughter and third child of Donald and Hazel Smith. She grew up in the Reid Hill and Berrywater districts and attended Marshall, Berrywater and Vulcan schools.
