Burton, Frederick James passed away at Little Bow Continuing Care, Carmangay on March 31, 2010, four days after celebrating his 86th birthday. Ashby, Vera (Stokes) passed away peacefully July 3, 2010 at Lethbridge, Alberta at the age of 83 years.
Mom was born July 1, 1927 at Retlaw, Alberta and shortly after moved to Lomond, Alberta where she grew up, married and raised her family of three boys. She also worked at the Lomond School as a teacher’s aide, librarian and secretary. In her retirement, she moved to St. Albert, then Chemainus and finally to Lethbridge. Groves, Keith Maxwell passed away peacefully August 22, 2009 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 77 years.
Keith was born September 19, 1931 at Champion, Alberta to Max and Annetta Groves. He attended Yale, Harmony and Champion Schools. Keith started farming as a young man with his father. He attended SAIT for one year and then returned home to farm. In 1957 Keith married Barbara Poffenroth and began their life together on the farm.
Keith played saxophone in a local band. He also played ball with the Champion Baseball

Norton, Laqueeda Gertrude passed away April 27, 2010 at Arrowwood, Alberta at the age of 74 years.
Laqueeda was born October 31, 1935 at Wetaskiwin, Alberta to Cornie and Rhea Versluys. She attended Champion School and graduated in 1953. Laqueeda worked for the Bank of Commerce in Champion for two years. She quit work and attended the University of Alberta, Calgary Branch, to get her teacher training. Laqueeda’s first teaching job was at Arrowwood School. She married Janus Norton of Arrowwood on August 24, 1957 and she continued to teach as a substitute teacher for many

Schierman, Wesley John “Wes” passed away October 23, 2010 at the Foothills Hospital at Calgary at the age of 64 years.
Wes was born May 16, 1946 at Calgary, Alberta to John and Wilhelmina Schierman. He attended grades one to twelve in Vulcan. In 1968 he graduated from the University of Alberta in Edmonton with a Bachelor of Science degree, receiving the First Class Standing prize from the Faculty of Agriculture. Mabel was born at Gleichen, Alberta on May 12, 1931 to Emily and Hugh Telford. She was raised on the BC coast and took grade 13 and Normal School training at Vancouver. After finishing school, Mabel went to visit relatives at Arrowwood and decided to stay. She worked at Mr. Munsey’s grocery store and operated the switchboard in the evening for CR Curtis. Daniells, Bruce Karl passed away January 19, 2010 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 81 years.
Bruce was born March 20, 1928 in the Township of Maryborough near Kitchener, Ontario to Maurice and Lydia Daniells. He was one of nine children. As a young man, Bruce worked for a meat market and a shirt and shoe factory. His first love was and always remained, horses.
