Schumacher, Annetta Marie, formerly of Vulcan, passed away at St. Michael’s Health Centre in Lethbridge on November 19, 2014 at the age of 90 years. Annetta is now safe in the arms of Jesus. Annetta was a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and a friend to many throughout her life.
Annetta was born at Vulcan Hospital on February 21, 1924 but lived in the Champion district. She attended Champion School in grade one, grades 2 to 8 at Hiawatha Country School and completed her education at Champion High School.
Annetta married Lloyd Gilbert Schumacher. They lived at Turner Valley for the winter until Lloyd joined the Army and went overseas in 1941. Annetta stayed with her parents until Lloyd came home from the war. In 1946, the couple invested in a farm in the Champion district and remained there until 1954 when they moved to Vulcan. Annetta worked at Stedman’s and later as a dental assistant for Dr. Schneider. Annetta was an avid Calgary Flames fan. She rarely missed a T.V. broadcast.
After Lloyd’s passing, Annetta remained in Vulcan. She later moved to Lethbridge in September 2007.
Annetta is survived by her children, Mel (Mary) Schumacher, Dr. Lorne (Heidi) Schumacher, Bonnie Leadbetter, Randy (Bev) Schumacher Cindy Chambers and Des Schumacher, seventeen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild, sister-in-law Betty Weiss and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Annetta was predeceased by her daughter Debra, son Darcey, husband Lloyd, brother Maurice (Bud) Weiss, fiancé Harris Matlock and Harris’ daughter Jean Ann Hartung.
The family would like to express gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Lethbridge Regional Hospital and St. Michael’s for the wonderful care they provided Annetta.
Memorial Mass will be held Friday, November 28, 2014 at 11 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Champion, AB, Fr. Tim Boyle Celebrant. Inurnment Champion Catholic Cemetery.
