EDITH M. ROEBUCK, PASSED AWAY AT THE VULCAN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE FEBRUARY 27, 2002 AT THE AGE OF 88 YEARS.
BELOVED MOTHER OF TWO SONS E.WARNER (ELAINE) OF EDMONTON, AND RODGER (CARLEEN) OF SALMO, B.C. FOUR GRANDCHILDREN KIM(PAUL) SANSOME OF VULCAN, KEVIN (LORI) ROEBUCK OF ELKFORD, MORGAN OF DARTMOUTH, NS AND KURT OF ST. ALBERT, EIGHT GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, A SISTER DOROTHY (HARRY) PETERS OF VULCAN, NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.
EDITH WAS PREDECEASED BY HER HUSBAND HARRY IN 1976, HER PARENTS, TWO BROTHERS CECIL AND HOWARD AND A SISTER EVA ANDREWS.
EDITH WAS BORN IN LOMOND, ALBERTA OCTOBER 9, 1913 TO JOSEPH AND FRIEDA (NEE: MIX) RODGER. SHE ATTENDED SCHOOL AT LOMOND AND IN 1930, GARBUTT’S BUSINESS SCHOOL IN LETHBRIDGE.
SHE MARRIED HENRY GILBERT ROEBUCK FEBRUARY 14, 1935 AT HER PARENTS HOME IN LOMOND AND TOGETHER OPERATED THE FAMILY FARM NEAR KIRKCALDY, THEY BUILT A HOME IN VULCAN IN 1948, THEY SOLD THAT HOUSE AND PURCHASED A FARM FIVE MILES SOUTH OF VULCAN IN 1956. THEN IN 1961 THEY SOLD THE FARM AND BUILT A HOUSE ON A ACREAGE HALF A MILE SOUTH OF VULCAN WHERE SHE RESIDED UNTIL 1989/90 WHEN SHE MOVED TO TOWN HAS RESIDE SINCE.
EDITH ENJOYED WATCHING HER CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN GROWING UP. SHE ALSO ENJOYED SEWING, PAINTED BEAUTIFUL PICTURES AND SOLD FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES FOR MANY YEARS FROM HER LARGE GARDEN. EDITH WAS THE MAIN DISH WASHER FOR THE VULCAN LIONS CLUB FOR FIFTEEN YEARS.
SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE VULCAN UNITED CHURCH, KIRKCALDY WOMEN’S INSTITUTE AND ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR.
A CELEBRATION OF EDITH’S LIFE MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT VULCAN UNITED CHURCH SATURDAY MARCH 9, 2002 AT 1:30 P.M. WITH SUE McDONALD D.M. OFFICIATING.
INURNMENT TO FOLLOW AT VULCAN CEMETERY.
