CAMERON “CAM” LORNE ROBERTSON, OF HIGH RIVER, FORMERLY OF MILO, PASSED AWAY MAY 24, 2001 AT THE HIGH RIVER HOSPITAL AND NURSING HOME AT THE AGE OF 83 YEARS.

CAM WAS BORN JANUARY 2, 1918 ON HIS FATHER’S HOMESTEAD NEAR MILO TO JOHN AND JESSIE ROBERTSON. HE ATTENDED SCHOOL AT LAKE McGREGOR SCHOOL UNTIL HE WAS OLD ENOUGH TO TAKE OVER THE FAMILY FARM. IN 1945 CAM MET HELEN BROWN nee: KINGSMITH AND HER CHILDREN AND THEY BEGAN THEIR LIVES TOGETHER. THEY LIVED ON THE FAMILY FARM AND HAD SIX MORE CHILDREN. TOGETHER THEY FARMED THEIR LAND UNTIL 1994 WHEN JAMIE AND CAROL PURCHASED THE FARM AND CAM AND HELEN RETIRED TO HIGH RIVER WHERE HE RESIDED UNTIL MOVING INTO HIGH RIVER NURSING HOME IN NOVEMBER OF 1999.

A LIFETIME AS A FARMER, CAM LIVED A SIMPLE LIFE WITH A LOVE OF THE LAND, HIS HORSES AND HIS CATTLE. CAM LOVED HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS. IN MILO AND HIGH RIVER, HE WAS A REGULAR VISITOR TO THE LOCAL COFFEE SHOPS SHARING STORIES WITH HIS FRIENDS, BOTH OLD AND NEW. HE ESPECIALLY ENJOYED HAVING FRIENDS AND FAMILY STOPPING IN TO VISIT AT HOME THEN AT THE HIGH RIVER HOSPITAL. CAM SPENT MANY HOURS IN THE SHOP FIXING OLD MACHINERY AND “TINKERING” WITH VARIOUS OTHER PROJECTS. CAM ENJOYED PLAYING CARDS, GOLF, BOWLING AND THE LAST FEW YEARS FRIDAY AFTERNOON OUTINGS TO A LOCAL PUB FOR A GAME OF POOL AND A COLD BEER. CAM WAS EVEN ABLE TO BOWL A FEW GAMES THIS PAST WINTER. CAM BORN WITH A NATURAL EAR FOR MUSIC, HE LOVED TO DANCE AND PLAYED THE VIOLIN AND HARMONICA, WITH ONE OF THE FAMILIES FAVOURITES BEING “POP GOES THE WEASEL”.

CAMERON WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE MILO LION’S CLUB WITH THIRTY-FIVE YEARS OF PERFECT ATTENDANCE HOLDING SEVERAL EXECUTIVE POSITIONS DURING THAT TIME.

LOVING FATHER OF TWO DAUGHTERS SHEILA (BARRY) PETERSON, CAROLYN ROBERTSON ALL OF CALGARY, SIX SONS DALE BROWN OF SURREY, B.C., RANDLE ROBERTSON OF FIELD, B.C., GARY ROBERTSON OF FAIRVIEW, BARRY (IONA) ROBERTSON OF STONY PLAIN, JAMES (CAROL) ROBERTSON OF MILO, KEVIN (MELINDA) ROBERTSON OF HIGH RIVER, SIXTEEN GRANDCHILDREN DWAYNE (VERNA), DARREN (LORNA), DAVID, ROBBIE, DAWN-MARIE, CRAIG, MELISSA, ASHLEY, CHANTEL, BRANDON, DENA, DENVER, DAVIN, KIMBERLEY, DAYLE, BRYCE, SEVEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, TWO SISTERS JEAN (SAM) ZAHURSKY OF ARROWWOOD, GWEN (JACK) WALKER OF TISDALE, SASKATCHEWAN, THREE SISTERS-IN-LAW MARY HEGLAND OF MEDICINE HAT, HELEN KINGSMITH , BETTY (GORDON) LAING, A BROTHER -IN-LAW ROBERT (DOROTHY) KINGSMITH ALL OF CALGARY, NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

CAMERON WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS WIFE HELEN IN JANUARY 2001, BROTHER RAYMOND (MARGARET) ROBERTSON, THREE BROTHERS-IN-LAW RAYMOND, KENNETH, EDWARD AND HIS PARENTS.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE WEDNESDAY MAY 30, 2001 AT 2:00 P.M. AT MILO COMMUNITY HALL WITH PASTOR ED SUMMERS OFFICIATING.

PRIVATE INURNMENT AT A LATER TIME.

HONOUR GUARD WERE MEMBERS OF THE MILO LION’S CLUB.
