Arnold Norman “Norm”Reynolds, of Milo, Alberta passed away May 12, 2002 at the High River Hospital at the age of 70 years.
Norm was born July 10, 1931 at Old Ridge, New Brunswick to Harry and Jessie Reynolds. He attended the Blackland School until grade eight. Following his education he worked in the woods near his home, cutting pulp wood, Christmas trees and logging using horses. In the spring of 1952 he came out west working in the Nanton and Vulcan areas then returned to New Brunswick. The following year, he returned and started worked for Tom Houlton on the farm in the Vulcan area. He then worked at the Purity 99 Service Station in Vulcan and later he worked at the Vulcan Seed Cleaning Plant.
In 1957 he married Shannon Houlton in Vulcan and together they resided in Vulcan Until 1961 when they moved to Queenstown. Norm managed the Queenstown Seed Cleaning Plant for several years. He then worked for Ole Willard prior to being employed by the County of Vulcan driving gravel truck. In 1974 he began his own business “Reynolds Trucking”, hauling grain and sugar beets commercially until 1978. When he returned to work for the County of Vulcan operating the road grader in the Milo area for the next eighteen years. In 1986 Norm and Shannon purchased a house in Milo where they have resided since. After working more than 20 years for the County he retired in 1996.
Norm was a loving and devoted husband , father and grandfather. He was devoted to spending countless hours attending the sporting events that his children participated in. He was on the Milo Skating Rink and the Milo Race Meet Committee. He enjoyed camping, watching chuck wagon races, ski-dooing and attending colt sales at his daughter and son-in-laws. He was an avid hunter and in the later years he enjoyed spotting game with the quad. Norm was a builder. He could build anything, even if he did not have the exact tool, he built that too.
Beloved husband of Shannon of Milo, loving father of a daughter Linda (Jim) Lyster and their daughter Tracy all of Winfield, Alberta, two sons Kevin of High River and Wes of Milo, two sisters Lois (Don) James of Edmonton, Florence (John) Irving of St. Stephen, New Brunswick, two brothers Keith (Anne) Reynolds of Cold Lake, Elton (Villa) Reynolds of Edmonton, mother-in-law Hazel Houlton of Caroline, six sisters-in-law Joyce Reynolds of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Carolyn (Ray) McLean of Barrhead, Sharon Smith of Edmonton, Barb (Bill) Benz, Joyce Peacock all of Caroline, Kathy Hartman of Slave Lake, two brothers-in-law John (Darlene) Houlton, Gordon (Marlene) Houlton all of Caroline, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Norm was predeceased by a brother Ken, father-in-law Bill Houlton, a grandson Bill Lyster in 2000, his parents Harry and Jessie Reynolds, a brother-in-law Bob Hartman and a nephew Brian Evans.
